The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Collector’s Edition

Has you all know I’m a HUGE Harry Potter fan, so when I got this email from Amazon I was delighted.  The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Collector’s Edition (Offered Exclusively by Amazon) is available for pre-order.  It will be published December 4, 2008, in plenty of time to be a great Christmas gift for the Harry Potter fan in your house and packed full of wonderful extras that make it must have for every witch and wizard and muggle who loves Harry Potter.

The Collector’s Edition is a bit pricey, but all net proceeds go to a great cause -  The Children’s High Level Group (CHLG),

For all the little extras, I think it is definitely worth it:

”Tucked in its own case disguised as a wizarding textbook found in the Hogwarts library, the Collector’s Edition includes an exclusive reproduction of J.K. Rowling’s handwritten introduction, as well as 10 additional illustrations not found in the Standard Edition or the original. Opening the case reveals a velvet bag embroidered with J.K. Rowling’s signature, in which sits the piece de resistance: your very own copy of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, complete with metal skull, corners, and clasp; replica gemstones; and emerald ribbon.

But the true jewel of this new edition is the enlightening and comprehensive commentary (including extensive footnotes!) by Professor Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, who brings his unique wizard’s-eye perspective to the collection. Discovered “among the many papers which Dumbledore left in his will to the Hogwarts Archives.”

You can read more about it and see lots of photos of this incredible artifact on Amazon.

The standard edition will be a great too and is very affordable:  The Tales of Beedle the Bard, Standard Edition.  So every young wizard, witch and Harry Potter fan can have copy in the holiday stocking or under the tree.   Or for the true collector – get both copies, the collector’s edition for the shelf and the standard edition to read and enjoy.

My copy is already pre-ordered.  Teacherman (hubby) doesn’t know it yet, but that is what he is getting me for Christmas and I figured I’d save him the trouble of having to shop this year.

Pre-order The Tales of Beedle the Bard and you have some of your holiday shopping crossed off your to do list today.
