Just checking on how am I doing on my four diets
Prosperity Diet: Well having the credit card paid off is nice, but didn’t last very long. We had two big expenses (both over $3,000 each). One will wipe out the savings and the other we are going to have to finance.
The first large expense is for my daughters eye lens (Gentle Vision Shaping System - contact lens you wear at night, and they correct your vision so you don’t have to wear glasses, plus they stop your eyes from getting any worse. After the first year, it costs less then it would to replace glasses every year - so it is well worth it. Very few eye doctors have this, and we are luckily to have one of the top offices near us that have this new technology.
Plus I had my eyes examined by this new eye doctor who was very good. I was shocked at how much my glasses cost, over $750. The frames were inexpensive, only $129 (and the only reason I got new ones is because the glasses I have are aobut 3 years old). However, this was the first doctor who said, “So you have trouble seeing at night”, and I said “Yes how did you know?” He said, he correct it with the right glasses so that night driving wouldn’t be so bad any more. Plus he can help me see with the bifocals - which I have never been able use ever since I first got them from another doctor. So the lens were expensive, but if they actually work and I can see better (finally), I’ll be happy.
The second expense is karate class. Angelgirl has decided to continue her training past black belt. It is a three year contract, and luckily they offer financing with a low interest.
I don’t like having an empty savings account, and I certainly don’t like having another payment to make each month but that’s life. My thirteen year old car is just going to have to hold up another three or more years (**crossing-fingers**).
The House Diet is going slow, but at least last weekend I have removed several more bags of trash and have a few boxes ready to go to charity. It actually looks worse around the house because of all the boxes stacked every where because I am pulling so much out of the garage and trying to clear out space in some rooms. My estimate is two or three years before I make a good enough dent to actually see a difference since my arthritis and pain levels keep me from doing very much all at one time and I have no one to help move the big stuff. Once I get through a lot of the boxes, hopefully by next summer, I can hire someone to haul out the big things.
This weekend we spent a lot of time helping to clean out my husband’s Aunt Grace’s apartment (she passed away last month). Her friend is trying to get everything sorted and cleaned out. It is packed from floor to ceiling with items. It is an overwhelming job. Complicated by the fact that the friend wants to clean everything, inspect every tidbit, and decide whether to keep it or not. We were able to get two closets emptied and several bags of clothes ready for charity, and a ton of trash out — I’m exhausted. She will be calling a local charity to take most of things. A lot of the stuff is just old and rotted, but there are also new things still with tags on it she never used, as well as furniture. It was definitely an experience, and a good incentative for me to get rid of my junk NOW - so I leave this kind mess for someone else to clean up. However, all the junk in my house doesn’t even come close to half of what Aunt Grace had stuff in her one bedroom apartment.
Health and Energy Diet - I only gained a half pound this week.
This Week #114 270.5 lbs (gain .5)
Catching up on missed weekly reports:
Week 113 270 gain 2 lbs (7/26/08)
Week 112 268 gain 5.5 lbs
Week 111 262.5 lbs gain 1.5 lbs (7/12/08) - last posted report
Happiness Diet - Although if “feels” like I’m not making much progress, and a little overwhelmed, I’m doing all I can to stay focused and positive. I can sense the edges of depression trying to creep in, but I am gently redirecting my energy, emotions, and thoughts on future goals and the baby steps that I am accomplishing. I’m having fun doing work on our new domain for 2 Witches blog - making graphics, tweaking the sides bars, etc. We plan to go live Nov. 1 (Hallowmas), so we have lots of time, but there are over two years worth of daily posts and about 75 pages to move and relink to everything, and organize, so it’s a lot of work but it keeps me focused on something I really want to do and feels rewarding.
