If I were a cook and did a cookbook, it would most likely be very much like Eat Shrink and Be Merry by Janet and Greta Podleski. (IBSN 0-9680631-3-6) It combines good tasting recipes, with over 200 zany bits of humor – cartoons, corny jokes and puns, and fun food trivia.
This cookbook will put a smile on your face and at the same help you prepare healthy dishes for the whole family that on light on calories and fat.
The book is divided into chapters with names like: Hey, Hey…We’re the Munchies, Poultry in Moiton, Seas the Day, A Sweet Carb Named Desire. The recipes include a nice variety Some of my favorites I will be trying – “Born to be Wild Mushroom Pizza,” “Wok this Way,” “Chowdy Doody” and many more.
They even end the cookbook on a fun note with a recipe for Died and Gone to Heaven Chocolate Layer Cake because “you only live once!”
I’m all for fun in the kitchen and lots of belly laughs, and of course good for you foods. This cookbook definitely fits right in with that. I give it 4 halos.
You can check it out on their website Eat Shrink and Be Merry, where they also have clips from their cooking show. (Note: on the website they are offering a special – order one copy, get a second copy free.)

And it’s not that expensive! I’ll definitely remember to add it to my christmas wishlist so I can take it to Ireland when I move again next year. Thanks Lady Rose!

LOL, just as I opened up your website and read your post title Eat Shrink and Be Merry was just ending on my TV. I have the book and watch their show too, I love their recipes! I do have one problem though, they tend to use pricey ingredients that just aren’t in my shopping budget
….but I plan on one of these days taking their recipes and putting my own twist on them with ingredients I can afford and still keep them lower fat.

Fragile – with their special buy 1 get 1 free – it is definitely affordable, the 2nd copy would be a nice xmas gift
Jolene – I do that same things with recipes – add a personal touch and tweak them a bit. What’s nice about a cookbook like this, is it gives you a basis for understanding the calorie and fat content and portion size for a dish – then getting a less expensive cut of meat or substituting spices, etc. you still have the same health basics and good taste.
Catherine – I like WW recipes too. Eat Shrink and Be Merry will be nice addition to your shelf

This sounds like a very good idea for a cookbook the way it is interlaced in a appealing way incorporating a little fun in the fight to eat right.
Never forget a little exercise and a little healthy eating goes a long way in our quest to stay in shape or (like most people) get in shape.
