The Reiki Principles:
Just for today do not worry.
Just for today do not anger.
Honor your parents, teachers and elders.
Respect the oneness of all Life.
Show gratitude.
Make your living honestly.
I mentioned in a couple of earlier posts that while at Womon Gathering I took Reiki classes. For those that are interested, I thought I’d post a brief summary about it.
There are various forms of Reiki – the classes I took were for Essential Reiki.
The three classes were held one per day Friday, Saturday and Sundary, and were about 3 hours long. Instructor: Francena Marie Hancock (apprenticed and taught with Diane Stein). From the start of the first class Mama Kelly and I both knew that learning Reiki was exactly what we needed at this time in our lives. It is a gentle and powerful healing tool that we are able to bring home and use for ourselves, our families, and the Earth. All three levels and attunements are given during the course of the weekend. Our homework is to practice self reiki each day for at least 40 days. It was also recommended that we get the book Essential Reiki: A Complete Guide to an Ancient Healing Art by Diane Stein (my copy should be arriving in the next day or two).
Brief summary of Reiki basics: Reiki is life force energy and can do no harm. The energy goes where it is needed, trust the spirit of the person receiving it to direct and use the energy in the way that is right for them. We are all healers, what the Reiki attunements add is to open the person to be a channel for even more of the life force to pass through them (each attunement opening wider and wider) by placing the Reiki symbols in the auric filed. The Reiki practioner becomes a channel for the healing energy, the energy is limitless.
In Essential Reiki all three attunements are given in the same weekend (rather then weeks or months apart as in other Reiki traditions). Each student works at the Reiki I level, and practices learning the symbols and moves on to working at the Reiki II level when they are ready, and then working and practicing at level II until they are ready to begin working at the Reiki III level.
I will be supplementing my work with Reiki with The Essential Qigong Training Course: 100 Days to Increase Energy, Physical Health & Spiritual Well-Being - a comprehensive home-study curriculum, with more than 70 qigong practices for harnessing the massive power of qi to create vitality, spiritual balance, and physical health. Includes: a 100-page, weekly workbook of original material that directs you step-by-step on this classical, life-changing course. This set is wonderful, and every thing is easy to understand and the dvd’s show you exactly what you how to do everything. Qi Gong is gentle, empowering, and healing. I highly recommend it to everyone who interested in healing for themselves and\or for others.
Health and Happiness to all, Lady Rose
NOTE: a book is useful for information and reference, but in order to do Reiki you need the attunements which are done in person by a qualified Reiki master – the attunements can not be done by a book or over the internet. I hope to be able to get my life situated so that I can teach Reiki by the end of the year, if any of my readers are interested just let me know and I’ll keep you posted.
Currently Diet Pulpit is rarely updated. Lady Rose is now blogging at Blissful Moon, where she is staying healthy and continuing to have adventures, please stop by and visit.
