Entrecard NEWS – Do you have a free Wordpress blog? I was very excited to read that Wordpress will allow an Entrecard widget IF enough folks request it. So what are you wating for…REQUEST it. Even if you don’t plan on using it, your request will help others who would like to have the widget. (Entrecard is free networking tool where you drop your “ecard” on folks as you visit blogs around the web, a great way to build traffic, find great blogs, network, etc.) A blog I co-author with a friend is on wordpress, and it’s frustrating to not be able to have Entrecard there. I am very excited that hopefully one day soon we can have the widget on that blog also.
Last week I have a brain storm (dangerous I know!) which meant that all this week I have been working this week on TWO Entrecard Projects that came out of the brain storm. I really enjoy the Entrecard community and great blogs and people I’ve come to know, and the projects are my way of celebrating the Entrecard blogging community.
The first is the ENTRECARD COOKBOOK (not just recipe) project – you can read the details here on the ABOUT post. The Entrecard Cookbook blog lists the folks who are participating in the project and the status of their submissions, that way it keeps everyone informed and keeps things organized all in one place. I ran it by the “official” Entrecard folks and they gave it a thumbs up. A couple other dedicated Entrecard members are going to help out with the project. In a nutshell, I will be collecting favorite recipes, and a few other types of creative tidbits for variety and interest (such as comics, humor, poems, sketces, etc.) from members of Entrecard. These will be gathered together and put into an ebook (tentative publication date: late fall 2008), and will include links to the blogs of all those who made a submission.
The second project is a collection of FREE 125×125 ECARD DESIGNS that I am putting together. There isn’t a lot there yet, but I plan to add a few new ones each week as I have time. These ecard designs can also be used by any one for blog badges etc. All you have to do is add a little text to the images (i.e. using photoshop). There are a lot of bloggers who join Entrecard who for various reasons don’t have an ecard design for their blog, so they just use one of the default one’s – which are ok but not very colorful or unique. I’m not an expert at graphics by any means, but I have been learning a little, and using free clipart, I have been enjyoing seeing what I can come with. It’s just a small way for me to give back a little to the blogging community. So go have a look and see if you see something you like – Gallery Index Page. Be sure to check back often for new additions. I have a few more that are ready to be added already, hopefully I get a little time late Sunday afternoon to add some more designs.
I have a lot to do this weekend. Today I am visiting with my best friend, Mama Kelly, most of the day and planning our trip to Womon Gathering in 12 days! And early Sunday morning we are going to Karate camp to pick up Angelgirl, but first they have the demonstration and presentations of awards so we will be there a few hours.
Wishing every one a great weekend! Health and Happiness, Lady Rose

Hi Rose, that’s really neat, not only the cookbook project but also your free entrecard widgets. I’d be interested in seeing a post about how you create one from beginning to end – from the sites you use for the free clipart through to the ending touches in PS, and all bits inbetween!
I’ll head on over and check out your cookbook post, how fun!

I use a lot of free clipart from microsoft clipart, and then I just use photoshop (software program) for letting and some things, and photobucket (which is a free online service to upload photos, they have added some cool editing options now).

I love the idea about the cookbook and stuff. I’m always looking for places to find recipes. Entrecard, Socialspark, and Blogcatalog have become my favorite places to hang out.
Womon Gathering sounds like so much fun!
