We have a “free” table here at work where folks put things they no longer want (mostly books, magazines, holiday decortions, nick nacks, etc.). It’s a great way to swap junk.
The other day on the table I found a Slim Fast Meal On The Go High Protein Bar, flavor: Peanut Granola. I decided it was “fate” and I was destined to do a review of it.
Here are some nutritional facts from the label: 200 calories (fat calories 60), Sodium 200 mg, Protein 15 grams, Carbs 21g, Sugars 8 g, , total fat 7 g, Cholest & Trans Fats 0, Fiber 2 g.
The bar was very tasty but not very filling. At 200 calories, it really is more suited to a meal replacement rather then just a snack. So for me to actually make this a “meal” I’d have to add some baby carrots or a piece of fruit to help curb the hunger.
My rating: 3 halos
I would buy one or two if I knew I was going to be in a situation where I needed something quick and easy to carry, but I doubt I’d use them as a long term diet item. I prefer my favorite protein bars: Extend Bars (only 150 calories, and specially designed to keep blood sugar stable up to 9 hours).
My rating: 3 halos

I actually liked the Slim Fast bars – as long as I added a piece of fruit or something, because they’re not filling like you said. Truthfully at 200 calories, it’s a bit ridiculous to call them a meal replacement, as their “snack” bars are about 120 calories each. It’s more like a trumped up, higher calorie snack bar.
However, I am the only person I know who actually will use them as part of a diet. LOL Mostly because the options in my area are few and far between.

Lady Amaranth – if you like meal bars, I really do recommend Extend Bars you can get a good deal on their site to order them by mail. They have a variety of flavors. The reason I like them – they stablize blood sugar for 9 hours – which really does help control hunger. They are made for diabetes – but any one can use them, and I know since I’m overwieght and it’s so hard for me to loose I have “insulin resistance”. If you would like can send you one or two. Just email me your address.
