Saturday was a kick back day.  I spent most of the day working out how to make a crocheted hat for Angelgirl. Mama Kelly had made her a lovely hat and scarf for this past Christmas, and Angelgirl has been wearing the hat almost every day.  But it is getting too warm now, so she was a little sad she couldn’t wear the hat as much.   So I offered to make her a lighter, cooler version of a cap.  She was thrilled.   She wants a cream color one to go with all her clothes (and she hinted that it would be very cool to have a lot of them in different colors too).  I found this yarn in my leftover craft bin, it’s a very pale pink and thin (2 ply I think).  She likes pink and it’s pale enough to go with a lot of different things.  It was perfect to use for figuring out a way to make the cap.   Now that I’ve made one, we can go out and pick a cream color yarn that she likes so I can make the another one.

More pictures here and the pattern is here (at my other blog Enchanted Crafts). I don’t usually write patterns, but I did the best I could to write down how I made it.

One of my dear friends B. came to visit today.  It’s always fun to catch up, share stories, laughs and just hang out.  I got to show her some of the new Tarot decks that I recently added to my collection (list of Tarot decks at my other blog Stir the Cauldron).  She really liked the Harry Potter Deck (Chinese).  After all if I’m going to have a blog about Tarot  I need to expand the collection just a bit.  We did Chinese take out for dinner and I feel like I really splurged with the chicken and green beans (but it was so yummy).

Angelgirl chipped a back tooth, but she isn’t in any pain.  It’s most likely a permanent tooth (she’ll be 12 next month so no more baby teeth), which means she wil probably need a crown.  Oh well, we do what we have to do.  We have a great dentist and at least I know where our tax refund money is going.  I have no idea how she chipped it because she was eating a piece of soft candy at the time, so it must have been cracked or something previously.  My main concern is that she isn’t in any pain and we’ll get it fixed as soon as the office can make the appointment.

Angelgirl had another school project to do this weekend.  This one was on Pandas, included a short research paper and a collage.  We made a quick trip to Staples and the cost for the board and paper, etc. was under $10 (we got away cheap this time).   She typed up her research paper and printed out several photos and the whole project only took a few hours and was finished Sunday morning.  The finished collage was lovely on a dark green thick board, golden construction shapes behind the a few photos as ascents, and the research paper mounted in one corner.  This was a much more reasonable project than the last one’s she has, which cost a lot more and took hours and hours and hours of  working on them, even with Teacherman and I helping with the odds and ends  to get them done.  I am looking forward to the end of the school year, because I am burned out from all the homework and projects.  Angelgirl, on the other hand, enjoys being creative and doesn’t seem to mind the heavy workload, for which I am extremely grateful.

Next weekend I hope to set aside some time to tackling boxes and sorting.  We’ll see how it goes.  It’s a complicated, touchy issue around our house.   It also depends on how I’m feeling and the pain levels next weekend.  Teacherman and Angelgirl have tickets for the Giants draft day, so I’ll have some time alone in the house.  If I can handle carrying out the boxes from the garage then I’ll sort them.  The last batch of boxes I sorted (last fall) I had stacked in the living for donation.  They got shoved back into the garage (again!!!! grrrrrr - like I said touchy issue).   Teacherman’s idea of cleaning is to shove it all back.  So then I have to take what little energy I have to move and sort those boxes AGAIN  (because who knows what else got stuck inside them) and put them back in the living room (no where else they can go), so I can make room to get to boxes that I haven’t sorted yet (but I’m usually exhausted from moving the first batch of boxes).   It’s an endless cycle of me pulling stuff out and he shoves it back, and with my limited strength and energy, most of the time I just ingore it because otherwise I get so frustrated I want to scream, which is why we have been in this house about six years now and our garage is still floor to ceiling with boxes that are a total mess and every available nook and cranny is stuffed with boxes.   We have no basement, no attic and limited closets in this house which adds to the problem, because we came from a house with tons of storage space: a huge basement and very big garage with attached rooms, and all our stuff just won’t fit in this house with out being extremely cut down to size - but that means sorting and sorting and sorting because I’m not about to just toss out boxes of stuff without knowing what is in them.

However, hope springs eternal.  I am determined to one day get through each and every box and reduce the junk, clutter, and amount of stuff to a level that is reasonable and at least some what organized.   I’m a woman with a purpose!   LOL
