Weight: 227 lost 2.5 lbs
It’s progress, I admit I had hoped for more - but definitely doesn’t matter in the long run. As long as the water weight is decreasing, slow and steady is the way to go.
Food for the week was the usual: breakfast and lunch: plain oatmeal and apples, except for two days I had baby carrots instead of apples. Dinners 4 were plain oatmeal, 2 were skinless chicken breast and asparagus, and my splurge for the week was a salmon with green mixed salad from Panera’s and I indulged in the small piece of whole grain bread that came with it - so between the couple hundred extra calories that day and the sodium from a meal eaten out I’m sure that contributed to not much loss.
Today I cooked up a big batch of home cooked meals for my best friend Mama Kelly. She is experiencing a family crisis. Between working full time, the added stress, and not getting much sleep I know she is at her max. There really isn’t much a friend can do at a time like this except offer lots of hugs, a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen and a covered dish. I only know how to cook BIG, being the oldest of 5 kids cooking huge comes naturually so my covered dishes are usually on a large size.
I made a huge batch of homemade macroni and cheese (from a Rachel Ray recipe with a few of my own tweaks), a big foil pan of ziti with sauce made with lots of mushrooms and garlic and meatballs (enough for at least two maybe three meals for their family). Teacherman roasted a huge ham. I chopped up some of the ham to put in half the mac and cheese along with peas for one-dish casserole meal. The rest of the ham and mac and cheese I left separate so they could what they wanted with it. Along with the home cooked meals I am bringing a big box of minute steaks, rolls, and chips for a fast meal, and two chocolate chip loaf cakes that were on sale (buy one get one free). Hopefully having some quick things to heat up for the evening meals this week will help a little bit to get her through the day.
The recipe for the mac and cheese ended up being so big ( had doubled it), that I even had enough sauce left over that I made two more boxes of pasta to pour the sauce over and took it over to my family’s house (where my two sisters, brother with their spouses and all their children and my mom all live - yes the house is over crowded and small).
I had Teacherman and Angelgirl taste test everything for me and it all got a thumbs up. I managed to not even lick my fingers, but I did longingly gaze at the mac and cheese and thought about it. But interestingly I was craving the peas more then anything else but I managed to resist. Peas are to high in carbs and calories for me to stay within my daily calorie limit, but I think I might try to work in a serving or two one of these days. The thought of sauted onions mixed with the tiny little peas was making my mouth water.
In spite of the temptations though I did enjoy being in the kitchen, humming and while stirring and seasoning including lots of love and positive thoughts too. I don’t cook very often, since I’m on a diet and only eat plain whole grain, fruits and veggies. Teacherman makes soups and roast chicken and some other things for himself which Angelgirl likes too, and we make her small individual things too but she is a light eater and prefers a lot of things on the plain side.
I also brought Mama Kelly’s youngest daughter home with me for an overnight. Princess Nibbles was thrilled to be coming over and my daughter Angelgirl was excited too. They are having a wonderful time in the big screen tv room and I doubt they will be getting to sleep any time soon.
Princess Nibbles had her very first stuffed crust pizza. I made a point of getting it for her because every time I saw her eat pizza when I visited Mama Kelly she would break open the crust first and then sigh with disappointment. I asked her why. She said she always hoped that one time it would have cheese inside like in the commerical. It was so adorable I vowed that the first chance I had I would make her wish come true. Princess Nibbles loved it. Teacherman offered to drive the girl’s to Rita’s Ice, which was a big hit. It is such a beautiful night that we sat in the parking lot, with the girls perched on the trunk of the car with their frozen treats.
Not sure what we will do tomorrow but I’m sure it will be fun.

I do not have words to tell you how much your visit, the gift of food, and your taking Princess Nibbles for an overnight meant.
I continued cleaning after you left and finished sorting every last piece of clothing.
I manged to relax a bit, though I did have to explain the situation to A’s best friend’s mom, which was not relaxing at all.
I did a little more tidying today and will be leaving for work in about a half hour.
I know that Princess Nibbles had a lovely time and it was probably just what she needed to have a sense of normalcy in her life.
Give her a kiss and hug for me.
Give one of each to AngelGirl as well.
Give my love to everyone

Congrats on your 2.5 pounds! Losing 1/2 to 2 pounds per week is healthy, and you’re doing fantastic! Just take your time and let it come off slowly. The longer it takes, the more ingrained the habits become, the less likely you’ll gain it back!

Thanks for the comments and support. Nadine I know it is best for slow and steady, but since I gain the water weight fast (9 lbs one night and 16 the following week, and continued 5 to 6 lbs a week for a couple months) - it’s hard to not want it to come off just a little more quickly. But I’m sticking with it. No other choice, so making the best of it.

I wanna totally echo Nadine AND say that not licking your fingers is a BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT.
that’s a hard one to resist and an EASY one to justify (one tiny taste so I know it’s good…)
