It’s Friday! Now that is a good thing. It’s the end of another week, and tomorrow will be weigh in #96 (and that is going to be bad and ugly!).
But in my quest for overall health which includes keeping my sanity and my sense of humor I am not going to focus just on the scale, but instead look back over the past week and share some tidbits with all of you.
The Good:
- I had a wonderful overnight visit with Mama Kelly last weekend and we have a few creative ideas buzzing around in our heads.
- A co-worker found a 2008 calendar on sale for $1 and bought it for me because she said - it was so “me” - when she gave it to me I screamed and hugged her - it’s a Wizardology calendar. I just love those books - I have the Dragonology and Wizardology ones (they have awesome embossed leather-like covers with gem stone; parchment type pages that look a handwritten journal with lots of added envelopes and touchable items inside) - they are so very cool. (Note: I’m a huge fan of anything to do with wizards, dragons, fantasy in case you couldn’t tell.) This was so sweet of her. It is a wonderful example of how some one can do just a little thing and really make someone’s day very special. (Note to self: do more little things for others!).
- Mama Kelly sent home some of her homemade cream of tomato soup (old family recipe) — which is so awesome! I only had a small taste (it is not calorie friendly), hubby enjoyed the rest.
- I found out Wed. night as I walked in the door from work that my daughter’s costume for her school play (in April) was due the next day (geeez talk about early!) - so her and I headed out to the mall (in the rain!), but we managed to find everything she needed (I had already gotten the plaid skirt she needed from Ebay). Previous shopping trips had proven futile, so I was very relieved and it was definitely a good thing that this time out we found the shirt, sweater and shoes she needed. (Note: she is in the chorus for Bye By Birdie for her middle school.)
The Bad:
- At the high school where my hubby teaches - a 23-year-old gym teacher was arrested for dating a 17 year old student - this is not only bad it is the stupidest thing I’ve heard someone doing in a long time. Geeez! The guys career and life is OVER all because he lacked some will power, not to mention more importantly what this is going to do this girl’s life. (**hides soapbox before starting a looooooong rant on stupidity, etc.**)
- My sweet but VERY old dog (half beagle, half miniature collie) is not doing well. She only eats a little bit if we bring it right to her. We have had to carry her outside almost every day because her joints are hurting so much. She is over 14 years old (I forget exactly how old), and I have a feeling it may soon be time…well you know.
And The Ugly - the icky stuff in the bottom of the drawer in my refrigerator, I really do need to get that cleaned!
The good far outweighed the bad and the ugly this week. I’m looking forward to the weekend - and perhaps even getting some actual organizing done around the house, maybe, just a little - well most likely not, but I can hope.
Hope everyone has a lot more Good in lives, and healthy and happy weekend to all!
P.S. The current edition of the blog carnival Abundance Carnival on Holistic Health is now posted at The Healthy Living Lounge. I am proud to say one of my submissions was selected to be included.

I’ve always had a love of wizards, dragons, fairies, etc. Sylvia Browne says all “mythical” creatures really do exist - some on our lane and some on a separate one. Also one of my favorite books is ‘Celtic Myth & Magick’ by Edain McCoy. There’s a a section on Merlin that’s excellent. I’ve mixed my belief systems for years including Christianity and magick. I never understood why they had to be mutually exclusive. My best friend from childhood mother was a psychic and we went with her too many psychic faires including two in churches. I know I’m a sensitive - I’ve had too many experiences to count that prove it.
Blah, blah, forgive my ramblings.

Girl, I am sorry about the dog. I have a geriatric dog that has a cough and moans all the time. I just hope Jesus takes him because I do not want to have to make that decision.
As for the teacher. What an idiot.
keep on . . .

I love Dragonology too. BTW, I used to write a blog called Teacher Smackdown and there were a lot worse things going on than a 23-year-old teacher dating a 17-year-old student. But all I can say is how stoooopid do you have to be to date one of your students. Then again some of the teachers I wrote about used to brag on Facebook/MySpace about having sex with their students. OMG!!!
