Still gaining, still swelling (especially the knees), I’ll post the official weight on Saturday (my official weighin day) – but be prepared, I’m HUGE (another 9 lbs gained this weekend, over 30 lbs so far all total and doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon). However, no matter what the scale says I am sticking with my plan to get healthy one way or another.
I have stopped doing the stairs for awhile to give my body a chance to stop being in so much pain and hopefully get the swelling to go down in my knees (I was doing the stairs daily at work 5 times Mon. thru Fri). I also ordered some new supplements to take and I’m hoping they arrive by Friday so I can start taking them Feb 2 (date I set for a fresh start).
Food wise I’m eating light, but not counting calories just for this week – giving my body a rest from strict dieting without going overboard.
I am planning a Fresh Start Saturday (Feb. 2) - I will go back to keeping calories at or below 1000 a day – starting out with using up the Medifast meals I have left over, then back to my usual menu consisting of mostly veggies, a little low fat yogurt, a little oatmeal and once in awhile a little lean protein (i.e. chicken, salmon, whey powder, or egg with added omega 3 and 6). Not sure when I’ll start doing a exercise or an activity again, but as soon as the swelling in my knees goes down I will start doing something (at least a few minutes for 5 days a week to start).
Here is a summary of the supplements I will be taking:
New ones I will be taking:
EFA Gold Krill Oil – for inflammation and arthritis (omega 6), (recommended by a fellow blogger in comments)
Dandelion Root – diuretic (only taking this until I lose the 30+ lbs gained in past couple of weeks for no reason)
Solaray – Cranactin – diuretic, also antioxidants, good for urinary tract -lots of benefits in taking cranberry supplements but also I am hoping it helps the urinary tract too because I’m getting similar twinges and slight pains that I had a few agos when they discovered “gravel” (tiny kidney stone material) in my bladder; recommended by a fellow blogger in comments.
Green Lipped Muscle Extract (Lyprinol) – reduces inflammation, lots of antioxidants, boosts immune system. In over 30 years of laboratory and clinical study Green Lipped Mussel has shown to have significant anti-inflammatory, gastro protective and free radical scavenging properties. Green Lipped Mussel extract contains many vitamins, especially the B complex group and a broad range of minerals and trace elements. It is rich in protein, provides essential amino acids and is an excellent, well balanced nutritious dietary supplement.
Continuing with
Livatone – cleanses and stengthens the liver (contains milk thistle and lots of other herbs), I’ve been taking this one for about a year now and I have noticed a lot less bloating and less pain in my liver (being obese means a fatty sluggish liver, so this supplement is definitely helping heal my liver).
Kelp, Sea – thyroid support, I’ve been taking this one for several months. My mom has taken kelp for over a decade now. She used to be extremely heavy, after a couple years on kelp she dropped a ton of weight without changing her eating habits, she still eats lots of junk food and doesn’t exercise but has stayed trim.
Multi-vitamin (One-A-Day Weight Smart)
Metamucil Fiber-sure – added to daily morning coffee
Doctor perscribed – daily aspirin and perscription for high blood pressure.
Also using Natural Woman Progesterone Cream (since Nov.) for 3 weeks out of every month as directed.
Replacing fish oil supplement I used to take with Krill Oil and Green Lipped Mussel supplements.
I am confident that I can get this inflammation and water weight gain under control and hopefully I can drop most of the weight gained back before I see my cardiologist (if not at least I can discuss the problem with her and hopefully get some clue as to what to do about it). I will be having a stress test and other cardiac tests in Feb. (part of annual checkup), followed by a visit with the cardiologist in March to discuss the results. I am very hopeful that there will be a big improvement in the test results from last year’s awful results.
