I’m going to take the approach that every single day is a new day, and a new opportunity to eat healthy, and just take it one day at a time.
I’ve been researching chronic inflammation. For a long while now I’ve thought it may be at least part of the problem causing the weight gain. The food plan for dealing with inflammation follows the same guidelines as a very healthy diet - no fried foods, no transfats, lots of fresh veggies and fruits, include omega rich foods and drink lots of water.
I’m also going to be trying a supplement containing the New Zealand green-lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) that contains a unique combination of omega-3 marine lipids, as well as other compounds that makes it 200 times more effective as an anti-inflammatory than fish oils. It won’t arrive for awhile, but I ordered a two month supply. If nothing else it seems to help reduce joint pain and relieve arthristis, and if it does I’d be thrilled to have less pain. (Here is one source for the supplement: Purnaxin Natural. 500mg 60 cap. Bio-active New Zealand’s Green Lipped Mussel - The Natural Anti-Inflammatory Discovered Growing on the Pristine Cromandel Coast. )
Today I’ve had an apple for breakfast, and baby carrots and a cucumber (with 2 servings of low fat dressing, 30 calories each serving) for lunch. Dinner I’ll have a nice big bowl of oatmeal (2 servings) with a tablespoon of Salba (a super grain packed full of nutrients and omegas).
I’m not really feeling all that hungry today but I am feeling like I am still “swelling” (the scale this morning showed another 1 lb gain). I may also try a dandelion root supplement (a natural diuretic) if the water weight gain continues to the weekend, hopefully my local health food store carries it. Another option would be adding sugar free cranberry juice and lemon juice to my water (small amount of cranberry juice and the juice of 1 lemon to abougt 32 oz of water is good for flushing out toxins and excess fluid). Or maybe I’ll just the cranberry extract supplement (as recommended by Carol B). After some research this one has good feedback: CranActin - Cranberry AF Extract.
I’m keeping occupied with my crocheting and not focusing on food. So far since Saturday I’ve already finished 6 scarfs, a lap blanket, and started on the second blanket. And last week I finished 2 shawls. So far I’m making a lot of head way on my list of gifts for birthdays and Christmas this year.
Keeping busy, keeping happy, and working on getting and staying healthy!

I’ve had problems with inflamation causing weight gain as well. It’s frustrating when the scales indicate as much as 6lbs difference in a 24 hr period and you KNOW you didn’t gain that much weight over night.

On the cranberry, I’ve been taking 2-4 grams of whole herb cranberry extract every day and my husband takes it too. It’s available at most grocery stores and pharmacies in capsule or pill form. Cranberry juice is so diluted I found it did little or nothing. I had major bladder infection issues for almost three years and antibiotics only calmed it awhile. Off the antibiotics and it came raging back. A male nurse told me to try the Cranberry and it works. And the added bonus? We had been trying to conceive for almost the whole three years. After two and a half months of cranberry extract I conceived Bruno at 39 years old!

Carol thanks for the tip on using the capsule form of Cranberry I’ll give it a try. Sounds like it’s some pretty powerful stuff.
Mr. F - I haven’t tried Krill oil, but will look into.
Thanks so much for your support and advice!
