Don’t be a fool, eat for fuel.

The Wisdom of Our Lady of Lards:

  • Live A healthy lifestyle daily
  • Stop the dieting
  • Eat Responsibly!
  • Less boring exercise - More Fun!
  • Size doesn’t matter - health does!.

The foundation on a healthy lifestyle is based on finding out what works best for you and sticking with it for a life time. It is not just about the food you eat, but a wholistic approach to creating a healthy lifestyle that nurtures all of You - body, mind and spirit. No two people are alike, so a healthy lifestyle plan will be unique for each person, but there are some things that all plans should have in common - focus on health, happiness, and humor.

Weight and Size are merely ONE tiny part of who a person is - NOT a reflection on character, will power, or intelligence. What is more important is health, happiness, and enjoying your life - not any number on a scale or tape measure. Weight issues are complex and not just caused by over indulging in food. The wisdom of Our Lady of Lards encourages making healthy food choices and fun activity as part of an overall goal of getting healthy, but each individual has to decide based on their unique needs, physical condition, and circumstances what is best for them and set their own goals for dieting, exercise, and life changes.

50% Body - (15% food, 15% exercise, and 20% overall health) - what foods and activities do you enjoy that are healthy, nourishing, and that you can easily fit into your daily circumstances and meet your needs, what health issues do you need to tend to (including regular checkups).
Health : A wise man should consider that health is the greatest of human blessings. –Hippocrates (460 BC - 377 BC)

25% Mind - reparenting your inner child, nourishing your heart and mind, uncluttering your life and surroundings, building healthy relationships, healing your heart, forgiving the past, being true to yourself.
Happiness: Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. –Mahatma Gandhi

25% Spirit - living life for the moment, being connected to others, not taking yourself so seriously, reducing stress, finding purpose and meaning in the simple things, gratitude.
Humor: You grow up the day you have your first real laugh - at yourself. — Ethel Barrymore

Three more H’s:
Hunger for life, find what is truly important to you and fill yourself with a zest for living, creating, and joy. Find creative outlets to explore, nourish your mind and soul with art, music, nature, love or what ever fills you with a sense of deep beauty, awe, excitment, passion.

Honesty with yourself, take the time to get to know who you are - what you need, what you want, your good points and your faults, your addictions, your weaknesses, your strengths. Be gentle with yourself - begin to reparent yourself as a loving parent with compassion and understanding, nurture the qualities that benefit your health and happiness, redirect the others in more positive directions, make the necessary changes - you can CHOOSE to be who and what you want to be.

Hug often, connect with family and friends. Reach out to others, find ways to volunteer, be engaged in the act of living and open your life to the power of love, friendship, and community.

May Our Lady of Lards guide you on your journey to health, happiness, and humor. Hallelujah!
