Weight 208 lbs - no overall loss
However, lost 10.5 lbs from the holiday 2 day indulgence for Xmas and the additional pound gained from the New Year’s 1 day indulgence (weight was 218.5 lbs on Jan. 2) .
We have an annual tradition of going to Bridgewater Mall, browsing the shops for sales and the food court and getting a piece of Godiva chocolate to start off the New Year. This year I decided to go ahead and indulge for the day, because I was confident I would get right back on track for eating healthy and I accepted that it would result in additional weight gain (which was only 1 lb).
So in summary my losest weight was week 84 at 194.5 lbs.
Week 85 and 86 for no reason gained 4.5 lbs, plus the gain over the holidays for two days indulged (my sister’s birthday party at a restaurant and xmas day) last week 87 weighin 217.5 and the one pound for New Years day on Jan. 2 weight 218.5 (total holiday gain 19.5), for a grand total gained for the last three weeks was 24 lbs - with my weighin today (losing 10.5 lbs of this gain) I only have 13.5 more to lose to get back to my losest weight of 194.5 and can start making head way again to overall weight loss.
I anticipated 2 months or more to lose the holiday gain, but hoping it comes off a bit quicker since I now most of it is inflammation and water retention. No matter how long it takes, until I reach the weight of 194.5 again I won’t count any overall weight lost - but I will continue to eat healthy.
Food log for week (except for New Year’s Day):
Breakfast & Lunch: oatmeal with stevia, cinnamon, and vanilla - 150 calories x 2 = 300 calories
1 TBL Salba added to oatmeal = 30 calories
1 cup coffee with no fat creamer = 50 calories
Snacks: 2 apples = 200 calories (some days 3 apples if really hungry)
Dinners: range from 400 to 500 calories (i.e. bag of frozen veggies 5 servings = 125 calories with skinless chicken; or another serving of oatmeal; or 200 calories of plain air popped popcorn.)
Calories been a bit higher then usual (closer to 1000 and 1100 a day) but because of added apple (+100 calories) and sometimes an added coffee (+50 cal. for fat free creamor) because I’ve been bit hungrier then usual and tired from fighting the cold. The hunger is probably from the cold weather, feeling run down, and also resisting the urges of temptations (still snacks and left overs from the holidays around), plus my taste buds had those awesome treats on three indulgence days (i.e. Godiva chocolate) so my blood sugar, fat cells, and taste buds are going to be more demanding for awhile until I get my system cleaned out and get myself back into my regular routine.
Exercise - Jan 2 back to work and start of resolution to get more activity, did the office building stairs (2 flights) three times. Will do the same today (Fri.). Fighting a cold so skipped yesterday, been feeling really tired and stuffy since Monday. My plan for exercise for right now is to just do something at least 5 days a week.
Overall I’m feeling really positive and looking foward to eating for fuel and feeling better. Those few days of indulgence really reminded me just how sluggish indulgent fatty and sugary foods make me feel and just HOW FAST weight comes back when not eating healthy food and keeping my calories under 1000 a day (if I didn’t get right back on track I could gain back all that I lost in 84 weeks in just a short 12 week or less time period). It was also a good reminder to stick with my mottos: “Don’t be a fool, eat for fuel” and “Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels.”
Been keeping busy still crocheting too, so that helps keep my mind off food and keeps me focused and positive. So far this week I’ve finished a poncho for my niece, a small poncho in two colors - just need to sew 2 pieces together (not sure what I’m doing with this one yet), and a vertasile wrap\shawl that can be worn in many ways (just need to add the two fancy buttons).
How is everyone doing with their New Year’s resolutions and plans?

Looks like you are getting back on track! Fantastic!
I did extremely well this holiday season. For November/December, I lost 12.5lbs, compared to the year prior in which I gained 7lbs. Now that I’m home, I’m back on track for eating and exercising. I don’t think I’ll hit my next goal since I didn’t lose as much as I wanted to over Xmas, but that’s life.
I definitely agree about the indulgences and how they make you feel sluggish. I hate detoxing my body again, but it’s definitely needed.
Hope you feel better soon!

As a student of statistics I work on the basis that anything less than 2% over time is not significant (2% for you is 0.08 over 2lb). Also I work with trends and the individual spikes are considered “freak” and are not counted. This would allow me come to an interesting set of observances about Christmas. I sample my size at a very low frequency - a month or two apart. This stops me getting worked up about week to week fluctuation and observe only the overall trend which is a downward trend with a slow down in the rate of decrease over the festivites.
Also if being slim means never enjoying my nan’s pudding then it would not be worth it. sure I flux up and down because of this but so long as the overall trend continues in the right direction I am happy.

Your doing great. Sorry that you are fighting a cold. We have been blessed not to get it.
The weight loss has been slow. I think I have my eating under control with just doing 1700 calories but I’m really fighting to get the exercise in.

Congratulations on your weight loss success. Just think How great you will look in all those nice summer clothes. This is a great idea, blogging your dieting results and success. It’s like an incentive for you to keep going, knowing that you now have a fan club who is curious to see your results each week
I have been on a dieting roller coaster since after the birth of my son in 1998. My weight has fluctuated. Right now, I am the heaviest, I have ever been besides being pregnant. I am not obese, but I need to loose at least 50 pounds. I know that doesn’t sound like a lot to some people, but as you know, it is so hard. I love food too.
I also now have high colesterol and need to lose the weight for that reason. You are an insperation to many… keep up the good work and I will right back with any progress I have in shedding pounds.
