Good Apple Blog Award Winner – Periodicially I  like shine a spotlight on a blog that I read often and that makes a positive contribution to the fatblogging and health conscious online community, and my first pick is John is Fit (my journey from fat to fit).   I liked this blog right from the start because of the title.  It makes a powerful, positive affirmation, that is a daily reminder to keep focused and on track that is focused on fitness (not some numbers on a scale).

John doesn’t just write about what he eats or weighing in, but covers a wide range of subjects from personal to current in the news topics, all written with honesty, straight from hip and often with a good dose of  subtle humor too. Here are a couple of examples of my favorite posts John has written.

One of my all time favorite posts was his post: Jennifer Love Hewitt – Maybe Not So Inspiring After All.  I was applauding when I read it.   Sure Jennifer sounded like she was being supportive of having a positive body image, but honestly John hit the nail on the head when he wrote “I guess I’d be more impressed with Hewitt if she said a size 12 wasn’t fat. She didn’t exactly step out there by saying a size 2 isn’t fat.”

He also shares his feelings and personal experiences, such as the Embarrassing Fat Moment post. We’ve all been there and felt those feelings in “embarrassing fat moments” of our own, and it takes real guts to share a moment like that with others and turn it around from a negative to being a positive force for change and improving one’s health.

John is also hosting a contest (entry deadline morning of Dec. 20th) - the prize a very cool top of the line Omron HJ-720ITC Pedometer, it’s very easy to enter (just write a post about his contest).  So there is another reason to jog on over to his blog and check it.  You’ll be glad you did.

NOTE:  After the holidays I will have a Good Apple Award graphic for John (and for future blogs in the spotlight).
