Weight: 199 lbs
No loss, and just a little gain of 4 pounds, not sure why but I know I ate only what was on my healthy eating plan (daily: oatmeal, apples, raw baby carrots, quinoa with broccoli) except for one night I did have 1 freshly baked cookie that my hubby and daughter made. But not going to fret over it, my goal for the month of Deccember is just to eat healthy and enjoy the holiday. Tomorrow is the surprise celebration for my sister’s 40th birthday - we are taking the family out to breakfast and I am going to still go ahead with my planned indulgence of having the french toast with blackberries. I know it will probably mean another four or five pounds will be gained, but I will stay on track the rest of the day and the rest of the year and kick off the New Year with determination to continue eating healthy and not stressing over the scale.
I also had a great boost to my motivation to get moving and out walking - I won the Omron Digital Pedometer from John Is Fit. I’m so excited. This was on of the items I really wanted on my xmas list too. A big thank you to John!
Instead of baking holiday cookies, I have been spending some time in the kitchen creating healthy meals for folks I know need a little helping hand at this busy season. For example, last Saturday I made 5 one dish meals and delivered them to a dear friend who is working full time plus lots of overtime (without a day off in a month) and going to school and taking care of her kids on her own. This weekend I am cooking a spiral ham and all the trimmings for my family. Sure treats and sugary goodies are the traditional holiday fare, but by switching to making meals I can also make a double batch and have a meal for my family and one to share. Having a ready made home cooked meal to serve lets someone relax and have more time with their family that evening, and it actually takes less time and effort to cook up then it would making and decorating dozens of cookies. It’s also fun cooking for a change, since I’ve been dieiting now for 86 weeks I haven’t really cooked much at all for over year now.
Dishes I made last week: My famous stuffed pork chops (with corn bread & apple stuffing with a side dish of summer squash & apple baked casserole; quinoa with broccoli and turkey-sausage meatballs; quinoa with broccoli and szechuan pork; shrimp and chicken creole with couscous.
I enjoyed cooking and the meals were very well recieved and truly appreciated. I may just make this a holiday tradition from now instead of going back to cookies or other treats even when I’m no longer dieting.
