Weight:  195 (just a tiny 1/2 lb gain for the week)

Tis the season to be jolly, and I have definitely been a jolly mood this week.  I ate healthy this week and stuck to my eating plan (following Rice House Diet guidelines) and 3 days this week I walked up and down the stairs at work several times - as part of my plan to do something active at least 5 days a week.

Last weekend I got all the xmas gifts wrapped, xmas cards will be going out this weekend.  Hubby and I have the day off together today and we will be putting up our tree and the outdoor decorations.

I’ve also been in a big crocheting phase.  Since Thanksgiving I finished crocheting a scarf for hubby, a blanket for a friend, a shawl for my mom, a pink poncho for Angelgirl (my daughter), and a scarf (in Diet Pulpit colors).  I’ll try to get photos up soon.

I go through crochet phases - where I do a bunch of projects for a couple months then usually don’t do any for awhile.  My last phase was last year, completed projects included a wide scarf to donate, a vest for Angelgirl, a throw blanket for our family room on the 2nd floor, and three shawls (one for me and two others for friends).

For my next projects I already started a blanket (not sure what I’ll do with this one yet), I have the yarn to make myself a poncho (with the same pattern used for Angelgirl’s).  I’d liked to make some baby blankets and more scrafs to donate also.

Crocheting is one of the ways that help me stayed focused and positive (and away from snacking and boredom).  It’s portable and can be taken any where.   I also enjoy teaching my daughter, and now we can share some time together working on projects.  It may not replace video games and online games totally, but it’s a skill she will always have and that way as an adult she can always come back to it to have a rewarding passtime to enjoy.  It’s not just for women either, you guys out there should give it a try.  It is very relaxing and you can create unique and personalized gifts.  Also creating something warm and wonderful for donating is a very rewarding too.   I have a great book I use for patterns called Prayer Shawls - with several crochet and knitting patterns for  beautiful, easy to do patterns for small lap blankets, wide scarfs, and shawls, as well info. on how to share these handmade items with others.

So next time you find yourself with the urge to nibble or scanning the refrigerator when you’re bored, why not give crocheting or some other creative project a try instead.
