Relaxed, Renewed, and Refreshed - I’m focusing on quality of life and keeping happy.
Week 83 Weight: 197.5 (+2 lbs. - not sure why, but the scale is just tool, nothing to fret about)
Week 82 Weight 195.5 (unofficial, weighin done on Wed. before vacation instead of Fri.)
Last week I was on vacation at the beach for Thanksgiving so I was no where near the scale. I did, however, weigh myself a bit early on Wed. and that scale said 195.5 for week 82 (which meant I had lost the last of the unexplained “water” weight that was gained week 78 and 79).
Our vacation was so relaxing, I hope to hold on to that wonderful feeling for as long as possible. I took a lot of time to reflect, re-evaluate, and go over my goals and plans for a healthier Me. With the New Year approaching, I felt it was a good time to really dig deep and set some new goals and plan for a fresh start come Jan. 1st.
I re-affirmed my commitment to getting healthy, but I also added the commitment to stop stressing over the scale. Getting under 195 has been difficult, if not impossible for me for years now (back in 1991 I was 155 lbs, after that it’s been between 200 and 300 lbs depending on whether I was on a diet or off a diet). I am going to need to come to terms with this and not let a number on a scale sabotage my health goals, because I can be healthy regardless of any number of a hunk of metal and gears. In the past when I dieted, I would get to about this point (under 200) and the scale would stop and never move (except up!) no matter what I did - so after a few months of stress, frustration, starving, etc. I would give up and within weeks I would gain back 100 or more lbs after having spent over a year to lose it.
I will NOT let this happen again. I added to my list of goals to do more things that make me happy and add joy to my life, to find ways to enrich my heart and soul (connect more with friends and do more creative projects). Next year’s resolutions are not going to be all about dieting and weight loss - health means a well rounded life (and so what if I have a well rounded tush while I am enjoying that life).
My goal for the month of Dec. is to hold steady, keep making healthy choices, and relax and enjoy the coming holiday. Come Jan. 1st I will greet the New Year with excitment and motivation to continue getting healthy, get more active, and enjoy life to the fullest each and every day.
What goals are you planning for your New Year’s resolutions?
Health and Happiness to all.
Food this week: following Rice House Diet recommendations - 2 to 3 servings a day whole grain (oatmeal and brown rice); 3 fruits (2 apples and 1 clementine); various veggies (green beans, onions, mushrooms, romaine lettuce, spinach, califlower); a little lean ground beef for a couple dinners (it was on sale this week), 1 dinner tuna fish in water 90 calorie packet. Daily calories 950 - 1000. Beverages: water, 1 cup coffee daily.

I am not planning on making any resolutions thus fulfilling my long standing resolutions of not making any more resolutions. That being said, my current goal is to try to figure out how to keep running through the winter. I have no room for a treadmill and I would hate to buy a gym membership just for the treadmill. I am not so worried about the snow as I am about getting injured on the ice.

Here’s some ideas - how about Nordic Walking Poles to help keep you from falling. They can be used without snow too - even in summer and they help you more 40% more calories then just walking alone.
Another idea is go to a Mall and walk around - some malls even had walker programs where they open early (not the stores just the mall) so folks come in and walk - sometimes even in summer so folks can walk in air conditioning instead of heat.
Indoors - how about one of the those rebounder trampolines. It would be different from walking, but mixing up your routines is a good thing, and it folds up when not in use so wouldn’t take up a lot of room.
