Tis the season for giving and sharing - and one of causes I strongly support is ending hunger. Folks (myself included) don’t always have a lot of time and money to spare so I also try to find ways that are quick and easy to help.
Here’s a fun online game that not only builds your vocabulary, but also helps feed the world’s hungry.
For every correct answer, 10 grains of rice are donated through the United Nations. “About 25,000 people die each day from hunger or hunger-related causes, most of them children. To a mother or father watching a loved child die in their arms from hunger, the rice you donate is more precious than anything in the world.”
Feel free to promote this game on your blog, they have lots of various size banner graphics on their website. For more information on how the free rice program works see FAQ.

If you don’t want to play a game, you can help feed the world’s hungry with a simple click on the banner below (a simple click gives 1.1 cups of food to the hungry). There are also lots of wonderful shops on their site that donate their proceeds to feeding people around the globe, so take a few minutes to perhaps find a great xmas gift for someone special.
STOP HUNGER - for more ways you can “pay it forward” or do a “random act of kindness” see my list of charities and causes I support.

Thank you for your advice and also the good information that you have on your blog. I started on 500 - 800 calories 39 days ago. The first pound came off on the 14th day of the diet. This is my frustration…that it takes SOOOO LOOONG for anything to start to happen. I don’t know of anyone else that STARTS at a plateau.
Anyway, that’s the bad news. The good news is that on the 37th day I lost pound #15. Leaving out the first two weeks, that’s averaging nearly 5 pounds a week!!
My question: for the first time, I took a women’s formula vitamin. Could this have made the difference? I have never taken vitamin pills before. Did they keep me from going into “starvation mode”?

hi Karen - I’m so glad you enjoy the blog.
The vitamins could definitely been helping - a body that isn’t getting enough nutrition will hold on to fat to protect itself.
There are a number of reasons for not losing at first also - such as inflammation - perhaps from a slight food allergy or too much sodium - so perhaps you also changed the foods you were eating as well as adding the vitamins. Also if the body is dehydrated it will hold on to fat - so you want to be sure you drinking lots of water.
One reason I keep a journal is so I can track what I ate, watch for trends in the scale and over time find out what works and what doesn’t.
