Many of us know the lure of cheese can tempt us to overindulge. I faced a bit of temptation this past weekend when my hubby, Teacherman, made a big batch of homemade macroni and cheese. I was able to resist and only tasted one spoonful by keeping my focus and filling up on steamed broccoli.
It seems that cheese is every where these days and I want to encourage you to be strong and stick to your healthy eating plans! I want to thank Raincoaster for bringing these dangers to my attention, so I can get the warning out - cheese is now on the web trying to tempt us 24/7 on Cheddarvision.
Cheese. Medieval monks counted it among the pillars of civilization, along with art, scholarship, and beer. In certain European countries, the sentiment still holds. But in America it’s often spelled with a ‘z’, sprayed from a can, sprinkled on as a powdered topping and pounds on melted on top of a wide variety of food items such as crackers, pizza, noodles, and veggies.
In small amounts, that are savored and used wisely, such as velvety Camembert, eye-watering Epoisses, and to die for Vacherin, cheese can be a healthy addition to your plate. So be strong, choose high quality and enjoy in small amounts. Also be sure to look for low fat versions of cheese, such as Sargento’s Light String Cheese Snacks, only 50 calories each, with 6 grams of protein.

In a world where cheese has its own channel and I don’t even have a half-hour show, there is no justice. We must be ever vigilant against the Cheese Menace.
