Don’t be a fool, eat for fuel.
Good morning one and all. This morning’s Weighty Wisdom post is based on an article I wrote many years ago - a time in my life when stress and life circumstances had me at their mercy and I felt out of control, I had allowed my emotional and mental state to plummet and stress was running the show and ruining my health. I was determined to reclaim my life and this is a visualization that I used to help me get a handle on
In order to be healthy, and have the energy - you need to eat for fuel, improve your physical fitness and your create a healthy lifestyle for yourself and your family which gives you what you need: physical, mental, and emotional energy.
Visualize three beakers – top line being 100%, bottom line 0%. Fill in where your energy levels are: Mental energy, Emotional energy, Physical energy. (You can also sketch it so you have a physical representation of where you are and then draw a goal line at the top of each - fill in each day as you make changes and improve your energy and healthy.)
Are you running on very little or even empty in one, two or three of these beakers? Are your reserves depeleted? Has a stressful situation been going for a long time? Coping with a long term illness or exhaustion? Are all three areas having pressure on them at one time? Then you MUST take time to replenish and care for yourself NOW - and not wait for the current situation to get better or less stressful. Put your health first as your top priority - no matter the circumstances, no matter what size you are.
To refuel – Change thinking. Change perspective. Change actions.
Put your self first – make time to recuperate.
Adjust plans based on starting point, assets, energy & reserves, and obstacles. The plan needs a strong foundation and creativity to over come obstacles.
Tools for mental and emotional recovery: meditation, relaxation, down time, affirmations, counseling as needed. Spend time enjoy the simple things, spend time with friends and family, find a creative outlet.
Tools for physical recovery: vitamins, rest, nutrition, hydration, exercise, regular checkups and medical treatment as needed.
Your health is the most important assest you have - put yourself first and you will then be better equipped to deal with daily life, stress, and even a crisis.
Wishing everyone health and happiness, today and every day.
