Thank you so much for the work you do with this site and for the inspiration that you serve to all of those 'fighting the battle'. I sincerely hope that I have a chance to meet you 'in the real world' someday.

I have had more than a couple people comment on my start date (12/22/06) and its proximity to the worst dietary period of the entire year. I had run into one of my on-again, off-again Weightwatchers buddies at the grocery store. She asked why she hadn't seen me at the group, I gave a lame, "I'll restart after the New Year". She replied with the fateful words, "Why wait"?

Why indeed?

Yes, the New Year is a good time to turn over a new leaf, and many people are successful in their plans, but some aren't. I believe that the only thing you get out of starting a diet/exercise program in January is frustration. Frustration at the overcrowded gyms and WW meetings. And discouragement from the knowledge that 70% of those people will fail, just like you have. So why bother?

Start today! There are 64 days left of 2007... you'll have a (to paraphrase a tremendous blog) 64 Day Head Start on the NEW YOU! If you can make it through the next 64 days, you can most definitely make it through a piddly month like March.
