In the crowded market of “healthy” options for bars and cereals General Mills and Curves™ have partnered to create two new options with the goal to help women achieve and maintain their long-term weight management goals in a sensible and healthy way. Also, General Mills is conducting a nation-wide contest called Real Change, Real Women to celebrate real women who have made a positive change to take weight off and keep it off which you can enter at Curves Foods.

Both the cereal and the bars contain 5 grams of fiber per serving, and fiber is good for curbing appetite.

The Curves™ bars come in two flavors: Chocolate Peanut Chewy Granola bars and Strawberries and Cream and contain: 100 calories per bar, 5 gms of fiber, protein 2 grams, and sugar 5 gram.

I tried the Chocolate Peanut Chewy Granola. The taste is light, not too sweet, with a soft crunch. My daughter who is 11 enjoyed it. It is definitely a healthier choice then a candy bar or small bag of chips, and she even asked to have a couple packed with her lunches.

However, compared to the bar I already use, I prefer getting more nutrition for my calories – Extend Bars, Calories 150, Fiber 5 grams, sugar 0 grams, protein 11 grams. For only 50 more calories, these bars give you a lot more protein and they are specially designed to stablize blood sugar for up to 9 hours.

The Curves™ cereal also comes in two flavors Honey Crunch Cereal and Whole Grain Crunch and contain: less than 200 calories per serving, 16 gms of whole grain, and protein 2 grams.

The taste is ok, and my daughter thought it was ok too. However, as with the bars, I prefer getting as much nutritional value as I can for my calories and compared to other cereals out there for the same 200 calories there are a lot of options (one example: Kashi® GOLEAN Crunch!™ Honey Almond Flax is also 200 calories, but also contains 500mg Omega-3, more protein – 9 grams, and 15 grams of whole grains.

Both the Curves bars and cereal were tasty, but for me didn’t stand out enough or offer anything new or more valuable in the way of nutrition compared to what is already on the market.

Rating: 3 halos for both.
