In my search of various blogs I came across an informative post on The Power of the Subconscious, which inspired me to write this post.
As any long time dieter or person seeking to improve their lifestyle knows, it involves more then just will power and determination. Our thoughts, emotions and subconscious play a big part in our choices and how our bodies responses. To make a positive change of any kind in our lives we can’t just “force” ourselves to change — we need to focus our attention on our inner selves and our subconscious as well. We can control our cravings, our behaviors, and our reactions to a certain extent through force of will power in the short term, but eventually if we don’t make real changes to our inner most fears, motivations, and needs we are going to lose the battle and our old negative habits will come back in full force.
To achieve a life time of wellness, health and fitness it is important to find ways to nurture our subconsicous and our souls as well. Real long-lasting change comes from the inside out. It is worthwhile to explore various possibilities, such as meditation, yoga, postive affirmations, reading life-affirming books and articles, attending drumming circles, prayer, therapy (group or one-on-one counseling), self help groups – what ever works for you. Be open to trying new things and experiences – you may be surprised where you find inspiration.
