When you have over 100 lbs to lose, it is a long road. It can be hard sometimes to find positive reinforcement to help keep up the motivation to stick with it. Losing even 50 lbs. sometimes doesn’t make much of a difference in outward appearance because there is still a lot of weight to lose.
But I have been focusing on the small changes for my motivation. Rather then looking in the mirror and feeling “fat”, I focus on how I feel. I pay attention to the increased energy I have, the easier I can breathe when I take the steps. I’m not ready to run a marathon or even to run up the steps — but the point is, my body is improving. When I pull my stomach in — it is certainly not flat in any sense of the word – BUT it does come in several inches, whereas at the beginning of my diet I could suck in my stomach and it would barely move. Now after over two months of exercise and losing weight for 46 weeks, I can feel that the muscles have gotten stronger.
I am definitely not ready to wear a bathing suit, but my 2x and even 1x pants are very loose. This weekend I was able to get into a couple pairs of my extra large pants.
These are small, positive steps that I am going to take the time to appreciate and congratulate myself for achieving.
Take a little time each day to appreciate who you are right now and what you accomplished. Picture in your mind what you want to achieve, feel yourself achieving your goal easily and without stress. Give your self the positive reinforcement and kudos you deserve for taking steps to reach your weight and health goals.
