I couldn’t resist sharing this heavenly soup recipe. It is definitely a heavenly recipe because the ingredients correspond to the 3 principles of the Tao of Weigh health, happiness and humor (healthy - because it is antivirual, happiness - it soothes nerves, humor - they are fun and stimulate the sexual system).

A light soup is a great way to curb your appetite by having a cup before a meal or as a snack.

I found this wonderful “trinity root soup” on Do the Jane Fonda blog, (orignally from Yogatea.com).

Trinity Root Soup

Garlic, ginger and onion are called the Trinity roots. Garlic is warming, strengthening, antiviral and reduces toxins. Ginger soothes the nerves, fights flu and colds, relieves nausea, is a potent digestive stimulant and helps relieve menstrual cramps. Onions purify the blood, balance the blood sugar and are antibacterial. When cooked together, the trinity roots help heal infections, aid digestion, and stimulate the sexual system.
• 3 onions sliced in thin coins
• 5 cloves garlic
• 1-2 inch piece of ginger
• 1 tsp Nama Shoyu or Braggs
• 1/2 tsp chili powder or jalapeno
• 4 cups water
In a saucepan, sauté all ingredients in one cup of water until onions are translucent and starting to stick to the pot. Add the rest of the water and simmer for 30 minutes. Yields 3 servings.
(No calories were listed, but the ingredients all have trace amounts so probably not even equal to 1 WW point.)

It would make a great broth to have alone (sip before meals to fill you up), or as a meal you can add your favorite veggies and lean protein to it and serve with a side salad.

Enjoy!
