I have been giving some serious thought to redoing my healthy eating plan just to mix things up and keep it interesting, and keep my body from getting used to the norm.

As most of you know, May 1, 2006 was the when I started the current eating plan which is bascially very low calorie (800 most days, no more then 1,000 once in awhile). I cleared it with my doctor and nutritionist (so don’t freak out about the low calories).

FYI – Previously I had been on a similar plan about two years earlier, lost over a hundred pounds in about 18 months – got stuck between 180 and 190 for a couple months, so I gave up, gained it all back and then some within 3 months (I gain weight extremely fast).

I have learned all the foods that are low calorie, that I enjoy, and that keep me from going totally insane from hunger (though hunger is there most of the day). It’s convenient, it’s easy, it’s become a habit, and I feel “safe” using it – (safe means I trust that I won’t gain weight eating the foods I allow myself).

Every diet before this one I gained a ton of weight on – Weight Watchers, Atkins, etc. Diets scare the heck out of me.

So why am I even thinking about changing things — because I am worried about being stuck again. Weight loss is getting harder and almost at a crawl now and I haven’t even gotten under 200 yet.

The plan I’m looking at allows unlimited raw or steamed veggies (seems safe in theory, but I’d probably still count the calories), it would require I eliminate my air popped popcorn (scary thought since that is the one treat I allow myself and the only time I feel full), it would require more prep time in order for meals to be quick and easy to pack during the week, it requires a daily fat intake (totally frightening – I do NOT eat fat! in any way shape or form).

The plan is nutritionally very sound, but with my diet history a bit scary fo rme – but if I try it for a week, I can always go back. It might be worth the risk of a few extra calories and **gulp** fat intake if it actually boosts my metabolism a bit and losing a pound or two a week becomes actually possible again.

If I do this I will start on Sunday July 22 (gives me Saturday to shop and cook ahead). I don’t know if I can do it, and even if I do I could gain a lot of weight (just from the extra calories from the fat I’d estimate at least 2 or 3 lb gain for me). If I don’t gain anything, I’ll give it another week or two to see if weight loss starts. If it actually works I’ll be singing it’s praises forever.

**plans on sleeping with the lights on to keep the diet monsters away**
