I did a little more research into chronic inflammation (which is part of the reason I think for my gaining weight for no reason) — because the weight gain is usually accompanied by lots of overall pain, plus I was born with rhumetoid arthristis which contributes to inflammation.
Chronic Inflammation can lead to some serious conditions, not just painful joints and aches.
A diet that reduces inflammation consists mostly of vegetables and fish. The foods that cause the least inflammation and are the most anti-inflammatory are fish such as halibut and salmon, and all kinds of vegetables. Foods that cause inflammation are sugar, simple carbohydrates, and certain fatty acids and oils. To reduce inflammation avoid junk foods such as donuts, pastry, and sugared drinks.
Chronic Inflammation - Eating high temperature cooked food is another contributor in the production of inflammatory cytokines. Consuming low glycemic foods prevents the insulin surge that contributes to chronic inflammatory processes. It is also important to avoid over consumption of foods high in arachidonic acid (beef, egg yolk, dairy, etc.). We now know that eating too much over-cooked food causes an increase in inflammatory cytokines. Since most “junk” foods are cooked at extremely high temperatures, it makes sense to avoid French fries, hamburgers, potato chips, fried food and other snacks. These foods not only contain lots of glycotoxins, they also create other metabolic disorders that can induce degenerative disease. Sleep deprivation markedly increases inflammatory cytokines.
I haven’t had a good nights sleep in over 12 years. So I’m sure that is also a contributing factor. I do get more sleep now in the past year or so then I used to, but it’s usually only a couple hours then up for several hours, then an hour or two more sleep if I’m lucky right before I have to get up for work. Well at least I have lots of info. to discuss with my doctor on my next visit.
