I decided to update today (Sunday) since last week’s post was on a Sunday. Sundays may be better any way since I can weigh myself and post right away. Work has been so hectic that Monday mornings are getting to busy to be able to post.

Weight: 236 lbs.

At least the scale is moving down (yippee!) and I’m very close to week 32 weight of 235. So even though I haven’t had any baseline “weight loss”, just making up for the unexplained weight gain – I feel pretty good and very postive about my progress.

I have been trying to figure out what causes the huge jumps in weight for no apparant reasons (since what I eat doesn’t change all that much), which then results in weeks of struggling to lose it again and then only achieving a tiny overall weight loss or no weight loss at all before the cycle begins again. Since it is impossible that all of it (or any of it maybe) is actually “fat” – then it is fluid. My guess is it’s from inflammation and\or water retention. Reviewing the past month I know I did a LOT of physical walking (shopping) and work getting ready for Christmas, followed by four days of vacation which also included lots of walking and physical activity, resulting in overall terrible body aches and pain (I have had rhuematoid arthritis since the age of two). All that activity and pain I am sure must have caused inflammation in all the joints. After the holidays I have done almost nothing and basically collapsed from exhaustion and pain doing only the miminal amount necessary to survive, and the past week the pain level has gone done enough that a few aspirin three times a day makes the pain tolerable (just a dull ache).

Overall this cycle is how my life goes — living life wears me out, causes huge amounts of pain, I gain weight, then I collapse, recover a bit and lose a little and then it repeats again.

Since it is impossible to do nothing physical for the majority of time — I have a full time job, a child, and a house to take care of, plus other events (i.e. concerts) and big cleaning projects, etc. that come up, plus I want to live not just vegetate — I am always going to have something going on that wears me out and causes lots of pain and inflammation.

So along with my New Year resolution to find the most nutrionally dense, low fat, low calorie foods for my diet, and to exercise, I am also going to do more research to try and find healthy (and hopefully natural) ways to reduce inflammation and hopefully the pain too.

Plus the amount of pain I am in most of the time keeps me from doing exercise — which I know I need desparately in order to build muscle and stamina so my metabolism can hopefully improve.

I can’t wait for the protein powder and extend bars to arrive, should be some time this week. I am motivated and I am determined! I am going to enjoy life and get healthy.
