Weight: 258, weight lost this week 1/2 lb; (total lost so far 35.5 lbs)

**breathes a sigh of relief** At least I dodged the bullet for another week and managed to salvage it (the extra 1.5 lbs. I saw yesterday on scale is gone). I’m feeling pretty good overall about the progress so far, and a small loss is still great because every little bit helps. I actually feel my willpower is pretty strong as I start out this week and hopefully it will carry through till next Monday. I plan are being extra strict with my calories this week regardless of hunger levels I may encounter. I also am working on getting over the emotional hook to the scale — I KNOW it’s not about the numbers – it’s about getting healthy. It will take time, but I know I can heal and change my thinking and keep my focus on the positive and not let a little number send me into a tail spin.

I had rice and veggies a few days last week — because I truly believe in the Rice House diet (it works for 1000s of people). But I just can’t do it all the time. A tiny 1/4 of rice at 160 calories is just not worth it to me. I think that may have contributed to a lot of the extra hunger I had. So I think it is better to have 3 oz. of lean turkey or chicken for 150 calories, and follow the rest of the principles of their plan (which includes lots of veggies and fruits, no sugar, no fat, no sodium).

I often think I should go back to being vegetarian again some day in the near future, but the way it looks I don’t think I can – rice is too high in calories and does nothing to curb my hunger, tofu is way high in calories and a lot more fat then lean meat. Besides the last time I was vegetarian a few years back I gained a LOT of weight – so I probably shouldn’t risk it again.

Determined to be healthy no matter how long it takes!
