Something to think about - satisfy all your senses, and you can satisfy your hunger with less food.

While watching the Food Network show on various restaurants and food hot spots to visit there was a one named Tantra — lovely, exotic type dishes made to be sensual and arouse the senses.

In the interview the owner said, there are only two activities we do that engage all the senses, sex and food. And in her restaurant she combines food with sensuality.

We all crave food for more reasons then just to satisfy our hunger. Our brains are wired to seek out pleasure over and over again. So instead of fighting it, it might be better to try and understand it and find ways to satisfy the senses but with healthy choices. If we satisfy all our senses when we choose something to eat — the cravings will be satisfied at the same time our hunger is satisfied, and we will stop eating more, more, more or feeling like we are still running on empty.

Most of us have very busy lives, and breakfast and lunch are on the run. But dinner time there are a lot of quick but satisfying ways to prepare a fulfilling meal that can satisfy all our senses — i.e. adding a few fresh herbs, a decorate spiral of mustard, roasted garlic, etc. Get to know what healthy foods you love and learn a few quick ways to make them, and then add some simple touches to turn your meal in to a sensual and conforting delight. You can also cook ahead on the weekends and have healthy meals ready to heat in the microwave (leaving more time for romance!).

So for example - rather then just opening a can of tuna in water and plopping it on a bed of lettuce, and then raiding the kitchen later for cookies or ice cream or other treats; take the time to dress up the tuna with onion, celery, dill. Smell the aroma. Use an ice cream scooper to place pretty scoops of the tuna salad on a variety of fresh greens, surround it lovely bright red tomato slices and grate a little carrot on top for added flare. Then take your time to enjoy it, tasting each bite, hearing the crunch of the veggies, feeling the smoothness of the tuna on your tongue. Sip some sparkling fruit flavorer water with it with added lemon slice on the glass.

It doens’t matter what you are making — take the time to enjoy it and let the experience of preparing the food and then eating it be a sensual, healthy experience for all your senses.

Of course a fun romp with a life partner is also a good choice for a nonfattening dessert and a good way to burn calories too.
