Weight: 246.5

Well at least I lost the 3 lbs. of weight I gained the week before (week 21) and the additional 3.5 lbs I gained at the beginning of this week, plus .5 — so from week 20 it’s a .5 loss.

After I had gained even more weight this past week I brought my calories way down and that seemed to work, so I will be sticking to <800 calories a day for awhile.

I do appreicate everyone’s support, input and advice however before everyone starts saying EAT MORE!, let me ask this, if eating more was the way to lose weight for everyone - why don’t people on very low calories after gastric bypass surgery gain weight? Why are all the medically supervised diets approx. 800 calories or less — shouldn’t the people following those be gaining since the doctors have lessened their calories? Why are people who follow a calorie restricted lifestyle so trim and healthy, when according to the “eat more weigh less theory” they should gain weight each and every day?

Everyone’s body is different. Everyone responds to food differently. Plus there are a variety of health reasons, hormones, and age that all contribute to how a person’s body deals with food.

I keep a food journal and track everything I eat and from what I can tell I gain from gluten, dairy, and salt, and almost every thing else too, except lean chicken and turkey and veggies seem to be safe foods. I am hoping that once I am able to exercise more (when the pain in the joints is less) and eventually get to a lower weight that I will be able to have more energy, be healthy and get my metabolism improved also so that at least once in awhile I can have a bit more variety and a little more calories. However, at 51 years old with an office job, and a body that gains weight just from smelling food, I have to be realistic and eat very sparingly and watch the scale diligently.
