This past Monday (12/4) weight: 247
Gained 10 lbs - no apparent reason.
I attended a lovely wedding on Sat. - but did not over eat, and did not touch the appetizers at all. The meal was a salad, small piece of steak, 3 shrimp and a few asparagus spears, with a slice potato side dish (I only had a few bites), and I had half of a tiny piece of wedding cake, and one small glass of bubbly for the toast.
For the rest of the day I had not eaten much - just some steamed chicken and broccoli for lunch so I wouldn’t be starving and feeling faint for the wedding.
Oh well - I am learning to not get excited when I lose weight, and to stick it out through the rough spots.
This week I decided to try the new and improved Optima Slim Fast shakes. I read an article about them, and they claim it stops hunger for up to four hours.
I have been drinking a shake for breakfast and a shake for lunch since Sunday. While at work Mon., Tues., and today I added an apple. For dinner I try to keep it at about 300 to 400 calories (since the two shakes and apple come to almost 500 calories).
They taste ok, but after an hour I am starving. It’s all I can do to not eat everything in sight. If I didn’t have the apple to add with the shake at lunch I think I would pass out at work. Needless to say I won’t be doing this again. I am just praying to make it through this week until Saturday to go shopping and get some healthy foods in that I can eat. I refuse to waste the money spent on these shakes, so I will stick with it no matter what this week.
I am sure that for some folks the shakes will do as they claim. But so far I haven’t found anything that will reduce my appetite. Even after all these months of eating very little — I have seen no reduction in appetite.
But no matter what, I am determined, I will do this, I will succeed - one day at time, one pound at time. At age 51, I will NOT let something as minor as feeling hungry keep me from my goals. I am determined to get healthy and find the best eating plan for me.
