My medically supervised diet plan is coming along great – I am NOT hungry — I just can’t get over it. I am in total shock. Nothing ever before stopped the hunger. If this last – I don’t care how long it takes to lose the pounds (though a steady loss of 1 to 2 a week would be nice) – because I can do this forever as long as the hunger isn’t an issue. On this program exercise is kept low, but I also know I don’t need another excuse to NOT do it – so I decided I needed a Slug Challenge (will post about this soon).

My first slug challenge I am setting for myself is 100 pushups. (I can barely do two so I have a ways to go!)  Why pushups? They are almost the perfect exercise for the arms and upper body, require no equipment and no special training. My daughter also taught me tricep pushups, so I am doing those as well (might as well get rid of those arm “wings” that are flopping all over) – so my goal is to do 100 of those as well – starting with 15.

I am also taking up a new crafting project.  (Being creative is a great way to keep from obsessing about food and dieting.)  Well it’s not new – it’s been around since the middle ages and I tried it back in my 20′s – it’s quilling. I even started a new blog, Quilling Garden, about it and hope to post photos of projects I do. My daughter, Angelgirl, and I love arts and crafts and decided we wanted to try something together. She took a scrapbooking class and a stamping/card making class this summer so we decided to take up quilling as our joint project – it compliments the classes she took. As usual I went a bit overboard – I’ve ordered a ton of books (I’ll be reviewing them as they arrive over the other blog) and a bunch of kits to get started. But it really is an inexpensive craft and easy to start – just get some shredded paper, a toothpick, some glue and a beginner’s book from the library and give it a try to see if you like it. We are planning are using it for scrapbooking and perhaps a few small xmas gifts too. But as our skill improves who knows what we can create – I have a few really “big” ideas that I’m sketching out in my quilling notebook as possibilities. Quilling is a great substitute for snacking. Shapes can be rolled while using a stationary bike. What really inspired me to give quilling a try again was an ebook I found online Quilling Magic, because it puts everything you need to know, plus patterns and free updates in an easy to understand organized format – it really is the only book that is needed to learn quilling from beginner to advance. I’ve reading it for 2 days now and can’t wait until my supplies arrive in the mail to get started.

On top of all that – I’m taking the plunge – I am really doing – I signed up to become an official life coach. I’m a little nervous about it, I know I can do it – after all I’ve coached myself and turned my life around and I’ve been helping people for decades, and this will give me more ways to help others.  I  feel getting the certification is good for me and will be a symbol for me of my progress to create a healthy lifestyle forever, whether I actually work at it as a career or not.
