Monday Morning – Today I am going to be starting a medically supervised diet plan. I have been looking into this program for several years now and actually based my eating plan on it (however doing it on my own it is impossible to get the best nutrient, protein, carb combo). I am very excited and have that “new” excitment feeling back and a boost in my determination to go all the way. I have spoken with my health advisor three times so far in preparation, and will be checking in a few times this week as I get started, and then weekly until I reach my goal.
Fresh start, new plan, renewed determination to go all the way!

The past couple weeks the new plan isn’t working out so I am trying something else – after over 67 weeks on a healthy eating plan I designed myself and losing over 80 lbs, the scale is a bit “stuck” so I’m mixing it up a bit and trying new things.

Why did I decide to take the plunge and sign up for a diet food program? A couple of reaons. For one, I have a little over 60 lbs to go – on my own that could take another 18 months or longer at the rate I’m losing (extremely slow) – sure I have the stubborness and will power to do it (I’ve lost over 80 so far in 67 weeks), but I said to myself why do it the hard way when I can use a program that works better and I could reach my goal in about 6 months (hopefully). But an even bigger reason is the food products are made to contain the correct calories, protein, carb, and vitamin balance that I can’t possibly do on my own so it is healthier and works better to help my body lose the weight once and for all. It means I don’t have to shop much (convenience), I don’t have to write down every little detail (it’s all calculated for me). It’s affordable (cost is about what I spend on food any way), I still have the choice of what foods to pick from their selection, it’s just easier and more convenient and more limited then going to the grocery store.

So from doing my own plan for over 60 weeks, trying a new plan for a couple weeks (that was more calories and required more figuring and cooking) – I am now going to be doing a medically supervised food program (5 meals that are delivered and 1 green & lean meal I will make myself – but I can make it on Sunday and have it in containers for the week). The program includes support (free), and long term maintenance – all very important elements. They have been around for over 25 years with a proven track record.

I know there will be folks out there who don’t approve and that’s fine. It’s my life, my body, and my decision. I have consulted with my doctor. I have been and will continue to deal with all other aspects of weight loss (exercise, habits, emotional issues, thinking patterns, environment, etc.) so that healthy eating is a permanent lifestyle change (not a temporary fix that ends when I no longer use the medically supervised food plan products). If after a few weeks the plan isn’t working or turns out to not be something I can work with, I can always go back to my original eating plan.

Either way, as always I will keep every one posted on how things are going.
