Weight 203 lbs, lost this week -1 lb

Celebrating another step on the road to health! More importantly I had my 6 month check up at the cardiologist on Friday - she has been very impressed with my progress so far and lowered my blood pressure medication to half (I hope to be off it by the next visit). Weight on doctor’s scale 207.5 lbs; blood pressure 104/67 (awesome!) - the bp numbers are far more important then anything on the scale!

Last time I saw her, 6 months ago, my weight was 231 lbs, blood pressure 120/80 (she lowered the dosage then too). Average lost 4 lbs a month.

A year ago my weight at the cardiologist office was 268. (I don’t have my exact blood pressure written down but I know it was over 130/90 and she was worried.) Average lost 6 lbs a month.

I will see her again in February, as well having a follow up echo cardiogram and a stress test. I am actually looking forward to it, because that will be two years from when I had my first tests done and the results were not good - the stress test only lasted a few minutes before they were scrambling to get me off (I felt fine, but it seems the machine was indicating I really wasn’t doing well). The echo was inconclusive and showed possible blockages, so I had to have a cardiac catherization (where they enter a vein in your thigh with a tiny camera and head up to your heart taking a virtual tour of your body) - luckily it all looked clear but that only meant the major pathways were clear. However, the echo results could also have been because of the excess fat which can obscure the view.

I am hoping to go the full distance and really impress them in Feb. when I get on that treadmill and hopefully the echo will come out clearer too since I’ll have a lot less fat to cloud the images.

Whenever you feel like giving up on eating healthy, or wonder if it’s all worth it. YES, YES, YES it is! Don’t ever doubt it for one second - every single pound of excess fat gone, every single unhealthy snack declined, every single step, weight lifted or other activity all contributes to YOU be healthier and improving the quality of your life.

70 weeks ago I could barely walk up a flight of steps. Walking slowly from my car to my office at work was like running a marathon. Today, I don’t even think twice about the steps, I’m not even out of breath and I park even further away from the office entrance now so I can more walking done. No matter how slow the weight comes off - I know I will be eating healthy and taking better care of ME for life.

Please take care of YOU too.
