You know you had a great week - ate right, got in some exercise, but the scale just refuses to cooperate and shows an increase, how do you react?

There is always the option of taking a hammer to the scale but that really isn’t productive. Take heart - those frustrating unexplained scale mishaps happen to everyone. More then likely it is just a temporary water retention gain (or perhaps the planet Mercury is in retrograde and your astrology chart is a bit off this week).

However, if it is a constant problem, and if you feel like you gain weight just looking at food - then it may be time to see your doctor.

There are some health issues you may want to have checked out, like the basics: blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and a full check up of your heart too. You may also want to ask for some tests to check on possible inflammation issues. You may also be sensitive to dairy or gluten or have some other food sensitivity. Sleep depreviation and an over abundance of stress can also affect the body’s ability to heal and lose unwanted pounds.

Here is a list of a few others topics you may want to look into with your doctor:
essential fatty acid deficiency, vitamin or nutritional deficiency, insulin resistance, dysbiosis (an overgrowth of yeast in the intestines), hypothyroidism, adrenal fatigue, horomonal imbalances (especially for women who are pre-menopausal or in menopause who may be experiencing fluctuating estrogen levels), fatty liver or other liver issues.

Remember to put YOU first, take care of your health, and don’t fret over the numbers on a scale.
