Don’t Be a Fool-Eat For Fuel!
Welcome brothers and sisters to the Sunday gathering here at the Diet Pulpit. I want to share a revelation with you this morning. You know how you think you “know” something, but in truth it’s just a thought in your head and you don’t pay much attention to it. Then one day a light bulb goes off and you say aaaaaah! Now I truly know the meaning of what I thought I already knew.
The other day I was blessed with such an ephinany from Our Lady Of Lards. I had gotten two lovely bottles of cocoa butter lotion (by Palmers) – a friend at work had recommended it (it soothes stretch marks and helps firm the skin). As I was spreading the lovely lotion over my hands, elbows, ankles, etc. it hit me – just how badly I’ve neglected my body. Sure I brush my teeth, lather on some face cream, run a brush through my hair and “think” I’m caring for my body. But years of being overweight had distorted my perspective, I was more disconnected and cut off from my body then I realized. But I also realized that over the past several months I had truly come to be more self accepting and enjoying who I am and comfortable in my own skin no matter what size. I have a ways to go and there is always room for improvement – but in that moment I truly felt a deeper awareness and understanding of truly accepting myself right now as is, lumps bumps and all and being happy with it, knowing I will continue to get healthier each and every day.
So brothers and sisters, I am hear to say – Pleasure Yourself! Take care of your bodies, enjoy who you are now, don’t cut yourself from your body. Treat you skin to a lathering in a wonderful lotion. Embrace your body as it is, treat your self to a massage, a long hot bubble bath, a bit of pampering on a regular basis. Enjoy the pleasures of the skin you are in. Notice your feet, your hands, your elbows, your knees, all of you and take a few moments each day to soothe an ache, smooth a callous, nip a hang nail. Use a scented soap, or indulge in a fancy toothbrush, find small ways to create a little oasis for yourself and take the time to create mini “spa” moments for yoursel. This goes for men too – you are worth a bit of pampering! Massages are great, if you can’t afford to see a professional massage therapist, find someone you can exchange a simple back rub or foot massage with. There are ways to pamper yourself too, even a simple hand massage, neck rub, or foot soak now and then can do wonders.
Your body works hard for you day after out and all through the night. As you are getting healthy and dropping a pound or two your body is working even harder to help you. Sure sometimes it feels like your body is fighting you tooth and nail, but perhaps that is because you are ignoring it. Instead of neglect, try a little pampering and I guarantee not only will you feel better, but your body will thank you with more engery and less stress.
For those of you who may have let your minds go in other directions due to the post title you might be interested in a related post about a book review for the Orgasmic Diet!
