Our Motto: Don’t Be a Fool, Eat For Fuel!

Welcome brothers and sisters, come in and make yourself at home.

This morning I’d liked to talk about food pushers. You know the type, they hang out on street corners, at our schools, at our local community events, at the office and sometimes right in our own homes. They whisper in our ear to take just one bite, lick the spoon, and even offer their wares for free making it even more irresistible. Some even use guilt, deception or other means to persuade us to indulge and lure us into a sugared up trance or overstuffed, dazed stupor.

Saying no can be hard, but with practice and a little courage you can do it! You can even help your kids learn how too.

Practice in the mirror every day until you are comfortable saying no out loud - look yourself in the eye and say NO thank you, politely and forcefully.

Remind yourself daily you are in control of your own destiny. You are not a pushover for some peddler of fatty, over-caloric foods to push around.

Make a list of all the food pushers you know or situations where you have found them, then write down next to each name your strategy plan for dealing with them. Review your list as needed so you are prepared when you encounter them.

You are NOT a sucker - you have F.A.T. Attitude (living life with a fabulous, awesome, tenacious attitude). You are strong enough to not let these food pushers manipulate you with their guilt and tricks into straying from your healthy eating plan and long term goals.

Just say NO! Hallelujah!

Have you encountered food pushers? How did you handle the situation? What would you do differently, improve or do the same?

It’s taken me a couple years, but I have those closest to me finally re-trained and no longer being food pushers. But there are always strangers and new situations to cope with, so “Constant Vigilance” and practice is often needed to remember to “just say no to food pushers.”
