Don’t Be a Fool-Eat For Fuel!

Welcome brothers and sisters, come in and make yourself at home. Today I’d like to talk about taking some time to be good yourself and give yourself more pats on the back for successes.

How many times have you found your thoughts negatively playing in your head about mistakes or misteps? Instead along with your food journal, add a few notes about good choices you made, a temptation you resisted, extra steps you took. Give yourself a check mark, plus sign, gold star or some way to mark the pluses each and every day then reward the positive changes you are making. For example, for every plus you earn 10 minutes of time for yourself or toss a dollar or change in a reward jar; then once a week or once a month (save up your points) treat yourself to a (non-food) reward — go see a movie, buy a book, get a new piece of clothing, take a bubble bath.

When you find your thoughts focusing on the negatives, turn it around and review your positives that you have a visual record of. The good feeling you get for each positive helps motivate you to make even more good choices. Forgive your slip ups, move on and don’t give in to letting your thoughts sabatoge your efforts.

You are all awesome! And you all deserve huge hugs and pats on the back for the taking on the challenge to get healthy and drop a few pounds.

What rewards would you like to save up for? What are some of your favorite (non-food) rewards?
