Michael - Hope you had a wonderful holiday and thank you so much for your comment. I plan on continuing to blog about my journey for a long long long time. I hope all went well with your wife's surgery - it is a life changing experience and definitely worth it. Please let me know how she is doing.

Here are two very useful resources she may find helpful:
http://www.bariatriceating.com/ - online store shop for chewable vitamins, protein powders and drinks, sugar free foods, etc. I use these vitamins (B12, Omega's, multi and calcium) and tried some of their products and have been very happy with them.

Weight Loss Surgery support forums - http://www.renewedreflections.com/
Lots of info. and helpful folks in the forum - monitored by a medical doctor who also takes the time to answer questions when warranted.

Thank you for sharing, and please don't stop writing. My wife will have bariatric surgery this Monday, and we are anxious, excited, nervous, but it shall be done.

She is a teacher so she has a few weeks to recover and hopefully she will be back to class a happier person, and a few pounds lighter. I know this is not the end all, because one of our acquaintances has gained a lot of the weight back after surgery, but we know this can work.

The pain she suffers in her joints, muscles and a messed up knee from an auto accident is incredible, and it's nice to hear how your pain has diminished. We look forward to a wonderful 2010, and hope to read more from your blog.

Merry Christmas! And make it a great new year.
