Wake up and put your health first!
Here at the Diet Pulpit I try to debunk myths and lies and bring you the truth. This is not always pleasant and may even shock you - but I feel it is important that every once in awhile we all get a glass of ice water tossed on us to make sure they are paying attention:
PUT YOUR HEALTH FIRST!
I found a couple of good videos on MSNBC health section (Living Large in America 3 parts) I felt really made this message stand out loud and clear.
Take a tour of obesity in your body - what you will find is a liver twice the normal size, lungs smaller then they should be, an over worked and enlarged heart; for every 2.2 lbs overweight the body has to create 2 miles of blood vessels which causes the heart to have to work harder.
How extra fat harms your health: greater risk of hypertension, stroke, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and other illnesses. Overweight makes it harder for doctors to diagnose and treat an injury. Overweight makes it harder for safe surgery - increased risk of infection, more medications needed they stay in the “fat” longer and linger, bigger incision and longer time on the table increases risk of complications.
When you go upstairs you are putting 7 times your body weight on your knee joints.
The morgue is seeing more and more people dying younger from obesity related conditions. Please don’t be one of them.
From the bottom of my heart, I want you all to know I care about your health and hope you’ll start giving some serious thought to how you can put your health first! The next time you are tempted to binge on those cookies, or pig out on weiners, or enter a pie eating contest - come back here and read this post! And then go memorize the Diet Pulpit theme song: Stop in the name of Health! Before you kill yourself.
There are lots of people who care about you, so please Put Your Health First!
