Weight: 291 lbs – Only a half pound loss this week, but it is only natural for things to slow down about this point. I had gained a pound mid-week so I was worried about the weighin today. I have been very very very exact with the food I had this week so I can’t even think of why there was an increase, but thankfully it didn’t show up on the scale for the official weighin.
Review of diet for the week: Breakfast: coffee (50 calories for sugar free creamor) and Extend bar (150 calories), Lunch: celery sticks and baby carrots (estimate 150 calories) with no fat dressing (50 calories), snack: banana (100 calories), Dinner: Fish (200 calories) and veggies (150 for bag of frozen veggies) = daily total 850 calories.
Earlier this week I had to take my car in for some work. It’s a 1996 Prism and has held up very well so far, so I’m not complaining when it does beg for a bit of attention now and then. For several weeks it had been making really loud noises while driving and some times it sounded like I was flying a crop duster. It was getting louder and sounding more unsafe by the day, so I finally said enough is enough and took it in. I’m so glad I did. The ball bearing for the driver side front tire was busted and three tires had dry rot, total was just about $600. It needs another $500 or so work done for a leaky gasket and something else, but since the rest of repairs are not an emergency, I’m going to wait until summer to get the rest of the work done.
The important thing is the car was fixed before anything really bad happened.
I have a lot of fun things to look forward for next couple of months. This Monday we will be at the White House Easter Egg Roll. Next month starts out with an overnight visit with my best friend Mama Kelly. Later in the month we will be celebrating my daughter’s, Angelgirl, 13th birthday My other dear friend, B., will be coming by for a visit – she leaves about 2.5 hours away and doesn’t get down this way often so it will be great to hang out for awhile. She makes a whirlwind trip every few months to visit all her friends. In June I get to celebrate Mama Kelly’s birthday with two big days of surprises (one the Saturday before her official birthday and later in the month for a very cool event – we are inviting other friends too, so about 14 people all together). I love having surprises to plan and share with friends, and hubby and I are really enjoying ourselves going over details and making little tweaks here and there.
I hope every has a healthy and happy Easter.

All of those veggies… you are doing pretty good. I’ve been trying to do some dieting myself by eating some low calorie progresso soups.

Hi Rose,
Congrats on going after your goals. Are you sure 850 calories is enough for you? What is your height? After I put in my stats into calorie calculator with my stats, I have to eat 2200 calories / day just to start losing weight! I’ve been amazed at the results. I just lost 12 inches and love sharing the news..

Hi Naomi – yes I’m very sure and it has been confirmed many times by various medical professionals that I have seen over the years – there are many factors that go into determining calories needed for weight loss – age, health, etc.
For years I have always kept my calories between 800 and 1000 – every single nutritionist has always said that is what I need (for maintenance you would add about 500 calories to that; it takes a 500 calorie a day deficit to lose one pound a week).
This time I am going to have gastric bypass surgery, so I am now the 6 month pre-operative process of weight loss that is required, and which is supervised by the medical team of the weight loss surgery clinic – so they go over everything. They were very glad to see that on my own I am used to keeping my calories so low – because 800 to 1000 calories is the recommended level post-op for the rest of my life.
