Here are my weighins for the past three weeks, so for the month of January an overall one pound gain.
Week 139 303
Week 138 305
Week 137 303.5
(Jan. 3, 2009 - week 136 my weight was 302 lbs.).

I have my consultation appointment for the weight loss surgery on Tuesday. I finally finished the 11 page questionnaire they sent, which covers every aspect of my medical history and weight history for the last 5 years in detail and overall information for the last 40 years (how long I’ve been trying to diet). I have detailed notes from here for the last 3 years. The previous 2 years I lost the handwritten diet journal I kept, but I generally remember most of it, so I hope that is enough.

I’m a little nervous about the appointment, mostly because I dread being turned down. At least I truly have no clue what else I can do, I’ve failed so many times in 40 years I’m not sure I can muster enough energy and stamina to try again without some constructive medical help.

After decades of being treated like an idiot by doctors, and yet again gaining all the weight back and more after 40 years of dieting, I am emotionally feeling a bit vulnerable. My brain says these doctors are professionals and specialize in weight loss, so they will treat me like a human being. However, my gut is preparing for the usual looks of disgust and disbelief, the tone of dismissal, and the usual advice of just eat less and exercise till you are ready to pass out for an hour a day.

Any way, hopefully they will listen and offer constructive advice to help me. For example I have congestive heart failure and extremely painful arthritis so telling me to exercise every day for an hour is impossible (I’ve tried, and after 10 minutes I have chest pain, and swell up overnight, and it takes weeks for the pain in my joints to subside). I gave them both my regular eating plan (3 small meals a day, with one snack) and my diet plan (800 calories a day – mostly protein shakes and veggies) so they can see what I do on and off a diet.

I will post next week with an update after the appointment.
