I have a dream – I will be healthy.  I have been mentally preparing myself for the long, long, long road of less food and coping with hungry and relearning how to make better food choices.  Losing over 150 lbs isn’t going to happen over night.  I have my dream in my heart, my diet journal in hand, and my plan written down.

For the first month, this is the plan:

Breakfast – Coffee (large) with splenda and nonfat creamor (since I like it very light, this will be approx. 50 calories or maybe a little more, it’s 25 calories per serving).

For lunch and dinner, eat salad (mixed greens) with Walden Farm 0 calorie 0 fat dressings, diet soda, and once in awhile a hard boiled egg or 2 slices of lean turkey (deli sliced in package is 30 calories per slice).

When the hunger is totally unbearable – I will have a measured cup of plain air popped popcorn with 0 calorie butter-flavored spray.

The unlimited salad is a bit risky for me, because the only diet that worked for me before was 800 – 900 calores a day or less (strictly measuread everything, and used mostly prepackaged items also). I am hoping that the calories will still be low enough even with unlimited salad, that I can eat until I am full at meal time, but still lose weight. I won’t add any tomato slices since those can be a bit high (25 calories per tomato, and the cherry tomatos add up quick also).

My main goal for the first month is to stop the cravings and keep the hunger to a mild roar so I can make it to the second month.

I also want to buy a stationary exercise bike and maybe later on an urban rebounder. I have several pieces of exercise equipment already, but I really like the stationary bike (keeps hands free for reading) and the last one I had I used everyday for an hour for several months, but it broke several months ago. The urban rebounder looks fun — and might be something my daughter would enjoy also. It has good reviews, is inexpensive, and is easily folded and stored away. I probably won’t start exercising until some of the pain in my back and legs eases, but I want to at least get the bike soon.

Some favorite foods I have said goodbye too are noodles with alfredo sauce; turkey and stuffing, mashed potatoes, pizza, vanilla ice cream, Rita’s Ice and Chinese take out.  I will miss them, but for me it’s best to cut out certain foods because they just cause more cravings and more hunger.
