Tic Tac Chill Exotic Cherry and Tic Tac Chill Paradise Mint

I enjoy doing reviews, but what is even more fun is when I have something to review that I can share at my office with my cubicle workers.  I took in both flavors of the NEW Tic Tac Chill and everyone gave them a thumbs up.  There are 36 tic tacs per package (1.8 calorie each,  0 Fat, 0 Sugar)

The general responses were:

  • “like the bigger size”
  • “really like that flavor is not overpowering - just right”
  • “clever new packaging”
  • “yummy”
  • “no after taste”  (not sweetened with aspartame)
  • “where can I get these?”  (best source I found is buy them as pack of 9 Exotic Cherry and the Paradise Mint - comes to about $1.50 each rather then the over $2 individual price I’ve seen))

The new Tic Tac Chill series comes in sugarfree  Exotic Cherry and the Paradise Mint - they are pretty good, not knock your socks off great, not really exotic but tasty and refreshing.  They are twice the size of a regular tic tac.  The box (also bigger 3″x2″) is clever - with a flip top opening but also an additional sliding front panel (and just in case someone needs instructions on how to open it there is a video online).

My suggestion to the company - make the container out of recycled plastic!   If it is, then make that clear on the packaging because it would be a selling point.

The sweetner used in Tic Tac Chill is xylitol - a naturally occuring sugar substitute found in fiber of frutis and veggies. Xylitol is suppose to help reduce plaque - because it attracts it but then the plaque starves because it’s not real sugar.  It is used in a few gum products also.

There are some studies that show that gum with xylitol helps prevent ear and nasal infections,  because of the presense of xylitol - “When bacteria enter the body they hold on to the tissues by hanging on to a variety of sugar complexes. The open nature of xylitol and its ability to form many different sugar-like structures appears to interfere with the ability of many bacteria to adhere.”

I’m not a dentist or doctor, so I don’t know all the ins and outs of the studies or whether the same would apply to xylitol in tic tacs - just thought it was interesting.

If you are looking for something to satisfy your oral fixation, I can definitely recommend Tic Tac Chill.  The new larger size also mean they last longer.  Also there are lots of situations when you don’t want to be chewing gum, but you could discretely suck on a Tic Tac Chill so you’re mouth has something to do.  Being sugar free it is much better for your teeth then sucking on hard candy.
