Weight 279.5 - gain this week 3 lbs.
Short and to the point - nothing more to really say about it. My body is in total weight gain mode no matter what I do. However, I am determined to stick with eating healthy no matter what!
I am also determined to get up the nerve to get a new cardiologist. I have my six month check up next month with my current cardiologist, so that means I have to call my primary doctor for a referral - when I call I am going to ask if she can refer me to my mom’s cardiologist instead. My mom has spoken to her doctor about me several times since the beginning of the year and he is very concerned, and he has agreed to see me as soon as possible. So if all goes well, and I can get the referral, then go confront my current cardiologist to get my records - hopefully next month I will be seeing a new cardiologist who actually seems to take my unexplained weight gain seriously and is concerned about some of my other symptoms too.
My primary doctor says I should cut my hair and dress more like Oprah when I tried to talk to her about how I feel and the weight gain. My current cardiologist says if I want to be healthy I have to pay for it, so if I can’t afford to do what she advised me to do (i.e. join a club and learn to swim) then there isn’t anything she can do.
I figure a new cardiologist can’t be any worse (I hope). My grandmother went to this doctor and really like him and he took great care of her. And now my mom goes to him, and he is really patient and helpful with her. So maybe, just maybe, he will listen to me and give me a little advice that will help. I don’t expect him to fix everything of course, but a little less chest pain, a little bit easier breathing, a little more energy and I’d be thrilled. And of course hope springs eternal that he may be able to help me drop a few pounds too.

I don’t see why you need to join a club, you can always exercise on your own. Walking would be the least expensive and most accessible. Good luck on your journey to great health.

Hi Em - I’ve tried just about every exercise I can on my own - I have a stationary bike and lots of other equipment, and of course walking and stairs - but the problem is I immediately swell up, gain a lot of water weight, and my rhumatoid arthitis flares up pretty bad so the pain levels get really intense. For example last January I really pushed myself, regardless of the pain to do more walking - I gained 9 lbs over night and the over the following week I gained 16 pounds - my face looked like a water balloon, the chest pains were almost constant (from the heart failure), and my knees were almost as big as my thighs from the swelling (arthitis).
That’s why I need a doctor who will listen to me and help me find something I can do.

I can only hope and pray that you get to go to mom’s doc. You really need someone to take you more seriously and to actually listen to your symptoms and complaints.
In the meantime know how much I love you sweetie.
