Do you ever feel like you have a zillion jobs, no time and just a tad overwhelmed? With school starting next week, I already feel the looming stress of all the added activites, things to remember, rushed mornings, packed lunches, and more that lies ahead. On top of the regular 900 jobs I do, next week will add another 99 at least to the list and I’m starting to feel a bit stressed already. I’ve been enjoying the leisurely pace of my summer mornings, with just me awake in the house and no one else to tend to, no missing homework to find or last minute projects to finish.
I only have one lovely, bright, very responsible 12 year old and just the thought of getting her ready for school and all that entails makes my head spin. I have no clue how any one does it for more then one child each and every morning.
I really do need to simplify my life. It is not just that there isn’t enough time, there just isn’t enough energy and physical stamina either. There are certains things we all have to do, and a million things I want to do and enjoy. The full time job and taking care of the family and house are here to stay on my list of things to do. I have made a lot of progress getting rid of excess junk in the house but there is still a lot of work to do to organize what’s left and other boxes to sort through and more that can be gotten rid of. I really need to cut back from 6 blogs to no more then 3 (two of those are coauthored with a friend). I need to get more organized - I spend a lot of wasted time just trying to find stuff (of course hubby moves things on me), but I have notes every where and other stuff.
So maybe I don’t have exactly 999 jobs, but some days it feels like it. I’m going to focus on simplifying and organizing and get that number down to 500 or less.
How many jobs do you have (or feel you have)?

I’m right up there with you and 999 jobs. Just the thought of going back to fighting about showers every night and rushing around every morning is enough to make me want to ball up in a corner and cry.

Need is such a harsh word. We are hardwired to resist doing things we “need” to because it infers difficulty. Imagine waking up each morning and asking yourself, “what do I want to accomplish today?” You may find things go more smoothly. Also, I happen to know that you are a hard worker, celebrate yourself and your accomplishments more!

LOL I think you may have just described my life. Ok maybe not exactly, but I do feel the same. So much trying to pull me in all sorts of directions… but I guess you really just have to roll with it! =) Hope you’re not too stressed!

To be honest, last year this time I thought I had a billion and NONE were getting done.
This year I’m living in the moment……. well, as long as I’m aware that is. So, I feel like I have one job - make this moment a quality moment. Everything else rotates around.
Maybe I maka no sense LOL

Thanks for all the kind words and good advice. It is all a matter of perspective - but time and physical stamina do play a role and once in awhile all the positive in the moment desire to accomplish things gets trambled on by sheer pain, exhaustion, and the clock running out - it’s only briefly though - most days I can keep my focus marching forward and positive or least not matching off a cliff.
