Squishy (our adorable pet fat) of course came along on our family vacation that we took Aug 9-10.  After all she would have been very lonely if we left her at home.

Our first stop was the Hershey Chocolate World where we took a tour, saw a movie, and browsed the shops.  Squishy loved it and made friends right away.

The History of the Hershey Chocolate in 3-D movie was really a lot of fun, with lots of special theater affects (like the seats vibrating, a spray of cool mist, and more).  There was a live narrator who interacted with the cartoon character on the screen for lots of silly comedy and laughs.  It was definitely worth going in to see.  Outside the movie theater as we waited to go in, there were a lot of black and white photos on the wall from the early days of the Hershey Factory.  The photo below was Squishy’s favorite - I held her up close so she could get a good look.  She was very excited when she saw it because she wanted to know if she could get a job working on the chocolate assembly line.  I couldn’t help but think of the I Love Lucy candy factory episode where Lucy and Ethel are stuffing their hats, mouths, and aprons with chocolates because the conveyor belt is moving so fast they can’t pack it fast enough (Link to YouTube video of the episode).   I have a feeling if Squishy were on a chocolate assembly line she would be stuffing herself with chocolate too.

TV Historical tidbit: Job Switching, (May 30, 1952) 39th episode of “I Love Lucy” is one of the classics and very well known - Ricky and Fred think housework is easier that having a job, so to prove them wrong Lucy and Ethel get a job and the boys do the housework. Lucy and Ethel end up working at a chocolate factory, wrapping chocolates as they came down a conveyor belt. It is better known as the “Candy Factory” episode.

Next Sunday don’t miss Squishy’s adventures at the PA Renaissance Faire.

Health and Happiness, Lady Rose
