Only 125 days left until Christmas. Have you started your shopping today?
I did! I’m so very excited. I just bought the most awesome gift for my very best friend (Mama Kelly) – but I can’t tell you want it is because she reads this blog! When I discovered it online I HAD to have for me, and I knew she would love it too – so I ordered two of them. It is nothing like the awesome Mrs. Weasley Sweater I made for her last year, but it is something she is really going like a LOT.
I used to be a fanatic about Christmas in my younger days during my 20s and 30s. I’d start shopping the sales right after Christmas for the following the year – but then life got insane around about 15 years ago and I could barely function with all the choas going on so I didn’t do anything during the year and I would end scrambling the last couple of weeks before the holidays to get stuff together.
However, The past couple years have been better and I have been able to plan a few months in advance for at least most of shopping. This year I already have a few things.
The crunch is going to be to finish up the crochet projects that are not done. I have all the smaller crocheted gifts done (1 blankets, 6 scarves and 6 hats, 2 shawls) because I started them in Jan. (see photo of Yarn Mountain) and spent three or fours doing them, but I saved a couple of the bigger projects (hooded cape, sweater, poncho) for later and now uh-oh! time is going by. The sweater is going to be the hardest because I don’t have an exact pattern so I will need to do a lot of stitch counting and planning to do it – and I’ve never made anythign like it before (so wish me luck!).
Now that I’m in the good-cheer-holiday frame of mind, I am going to have dig out my crochet hook and find those projects and make sure I start working on them again.
