Olympian Gary Hall Jr. is now the latest Inspired by Diabetes global ambassador. Hall is currently writing for a blog on the L.A. Times website called “Olympics: Ticket to Beijing”. It has updates, opinions, and commentary straight from Hall himself, read it HERE.
Hall is a 10-time medalist in the Summer Games. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 1999, and a year later, defied the odds by winning his first individual gold in the 50 freestyle in Sydney in 2000. In 2004 in Athens he became, at 29 years old, the oldest male in 80 years to win gold for the U.S. team.
Inspired By Diabetes - be sure to check out their website, and enter the 2008-09 Creative Expression Competition - which seeks expressions of the challenges and triumphs of the diabetes journey through art, essay, poetry, photography and music. By telling your story in a creative way, you will help bring life to children in need.

Thank you for noting this site. There is so much emphasis given to Type 2 diabetes (particularly on TV) that children with Type 1 feel often ignored or lumped in with adults. Those with Type 1 have a much different set of challenges than those with Type 2.
